Bzzt. Wrong.

US Special Forces trains with the local civilian population of North Carolina on a regular basis, for example.

Operation ROBIN SAGE is Phase IV of US Army Special Forces training, conducted over 28 days and across 15 counties of North Carolina, where the Green Beret-trainees interact with local civilians who are in on the training scenario (the 15 counties depict the "People's Republic of Pineland" a fictional totalitarian state with the people wanting to rise up in a revolution).

Many moons ago in ROTC, I got to be one of the "tribes" that we're trained by the SF candidates in Robin Sage. Assaulting an air field, ambushing a convoy, planting explosives, setting up a drop site for helicopters, etc. The weather sucked but it was fun doing things like driving through town in the back of an RV with a M16. They're some of the most awesome and professional people you'll ever meet.

Since they're declining to relaease the areas in which they'll be operating, I'd guess it's OK ot fire laser beams into the air anywhere?

GoodDoctorB: Wow, what brand of tinfoil do YOU use?

He's absolutely correct. Robin Sage is the Green Beret course capstone experience in which the students are trained to suppress freedom fighters of other political ideologies by training freedom fighters friendly to our ideology to kill them. It's a mini-course version of how the CIA created Bin Laden, btw. They -- the green beret candidates -- use bribery and hearts and minds persuasion propaganda to get "tribes" of civilians to get with the globalist program and kill people we don't like.
It's really working well in Afghanistan.
But it'll work much better here in the US and A, where people are not much more sophisticated.

HotIgneous Intruder:

Did you get an extra scoop of Hostile in your cereal this morning? Tune the Jerk setting down.

It is proof that military training exercises, including USSOCOM ones, are done off a military reservation.

From the article, it sounds like they coordinated with a private landowner to use private property for a training exercise. We don't know the details, but it could be something like an abandoned mall, a closed factory or such they are using for MOUT (Military Operations in Urban Terrain) training that isn't available at normal military bases.

If you were training for a stealthy raid on a refinery or factory that incapacitates the plant, with the deniabiltiy that comes from it NOT exploding from a cruise missile or hellfire missile strike, insertion of some operators to sabotage it would be a good option. (wild-ass guess) Want to train to sabotage an Iranian nuclear plant? That would be a good way to do it(/wild-ass guess)

Military MOUT sites are typically oriented towards mimicking small villages in countries ending with -stan. A few streets with one-room buildings and maybe a couple of small two-story shacks are typical.

Anything big and industrial, or large scale commercial and you're not going to find that on-post.

How many MOUT sites have you trained at?

I'm not Special Forces, but I am Army. I've kicked in plenty of doors, albeit only in training. I haven't combat deployed, just done a lot of training.

I'm not pretending to be a Green Beret, Ranger, Navy SEAL, Pararescue, or anything really elite. I'm a serviceman who is just commenting on something that is in my professional experience: the layout and structure of military urban training sites.

They are mostly replicas of small middle-eastern villages. There are a few that are replicas of suburban US that are used for disaster relief training. There are a couple that replicate larger middle-eastern or third-world towns.

MOUT sites aren't exactly secret. They are replica towns. You can find them on Google Earth if you go looking for them. Their layouts aren't secret. That we don't have sites for training operations in large industrial sites like power-plants or refineries isn't exactly a secret. If we have a MOUT site including such features on a military reservation in the US, give me the coordinates, let me verify it in Google Earth and I will happily admit I am wrong and apologize.

As for "white knighting", how has been stating facts like the existence of the ROBIN SAGE exercise and an educated guess about why they might be doing urban training off-post "white knighting"?

Unfortunately yes, they are the same people who claimed Bush was going to stop the 08 election by declaring martial law, and of course there is a group claiming Obama is going to do the same thing this year which I think is the same group that claimed Bush was going to do it. They also have some strange theories about Yucca Mountain.

office_despot: I never believed any of that black helicopter stuff (although it made for good entertainment in Vineland) until one day I was out running in the woods (of North Carolina), came up a hill, and a black helicopter rose up from behind it, right in front of me.

I could not have been more surprised if the Loch Ness Monster had come up out of the creek.

That's what happens when you are near a military training area. I got buzzed by a couple of black helicopters in eastern washington once too, but this was near a military base so I figure they were just out practicing.

Imbecility becomes many farkers.
There are ways to tell the farkers who are white knights for the military-industrial complex, the first of which is reading their obsequious faux high-knowledge word constructions that are intended to reflect their cognoscenti insider-knowledge of all things secret and dark and special.
Very special operators are here on the internet and are typing HARD for your freedom.

I just can't take any of your posts seriously after you revealed yourself to be a house husband.

He certainly has no credibility talking down to an active/reserve (the details are unimportant to me, but I do mean to respect Silverstaff's service and lack of ITGness) military personnel about anything regarding military training practices.

I might take a house husband's advice as to what soap operas have gotten farking retarded though.

Had my first taste of rattlesnake as part of an off-post training mission in the mountains of North Kakalakky back in the 80s.

Our biggest eye-opening mission brief was "nobody goes anywhere without 3 others, the hicks up here will kill your for that M16."

Silverstaff: GoodDoctorB: Silverstaff: HotIgneous Intruder: Absolutely no reason for special operations troops to be training with local civilian police.
No. Reason. At. All.

Bzzt.

Wow, what brand of tinfoil do YOU use?

Your hat gets way better reception than mine.

Tinfoil? WTF?

USSOCOM's Official Press Release about ROBIN SAGE. . .to let the civilians of North Carolina know military training exercises will be happening off-post.

Wikipedia entry for Robin Sage, part of the article on Special Forces training Is a Wiki article a good source for you?

It's not like it's a secret, or contested, or any kind of conspiracy theory.

For the record... I couldn't agree more. My bad, sarcastic joke was that since he had a legitimate, reasonable scenario that could very possibly explain the presence of the helicopters... As opposed to the rest of the wild, baseless drivel being spouted.... HIS "tinfoil hat" must actually be working, feeding him plausibility instead of derpy-doo nonsense.

No? No.

I'll stick to the photoshops.

HotIgneous Intruder: GoodDoctorB: Wow, what brand of tinfoil do YOU use?

He's absolutely correct. Robin Sage is the Green Beret course capstone experience in which the students are trained to suppress freedom fighters of other political ideologies by training freedom fighters friendly to our ideology to kill them. It's a mini-course version of how the CIA created Bin Laden, btw. They -- the green beret candidates -- use bribery and hearts and minds persuasion propaganda to get "tribes" of civilians to get with the globalist program and kill people we don't like.
It's really working well in Afghanistan.
But it'll work much better here in the US and A, where people are not much more sophisticated.

Have a friend who's a LEO with the Alamance County Sheriff's office, we were talking about this the other day and he said that years ago (very pre 9/11, he's retiring next year) one team of Berets dressed in civvies with unloaded weapons in their vehicle (traveling from Bragg to a training site "undercover", they were supposed to treat LEOs as "hostile" so they didn't reveal their military IDs at first) got drawn on by an NC highway patrol officer who didn't know about the exercises after he pulled them over for speeding.

Apparently communications between organizations are much better now.

I do find it amusing that the US government spent decades denying the existence of silent, black stealth helicopters and then bragged about them right on the front page of the news when they took out Osama bin-Laden.

They didn't brag, and they didn't have much choice.

One crashed, and wasn't completely destroyed. Once the media got the pics of the tail boom of what was apparently a stealth modified Blackhawk, there was no plausible deniability.

That the US had stealth helicopter tech was no secret either, the Army cancelled the RAH-66 Comanche after building two working prototypes, because they decided that a helicopter designed for a Cold War type conflict in that it was meant to engage tank columns a European land war while being invisible to radar was not that useful in our current and projected conflicts. Looks like they got some money out of the R&D though.

This. When I was in the reserves back in the '80s, we were given the same orders. Also, officially, we weren't supposed to have live ammo unless we were on the qualification range, but nobody in my unit didn't have at least one 20 round mag with him, and the section chief was permitted to keep one ammo can with magazines and a 100 round belt for our M-60. Unofficially, of course.
The weird thing was, when there was a credible threat, 96th ARCOM's solution was to have us go on exercises without our rifles, which suited us just fine, cause that meant one less thing to clean at the end of the weekend. I used to get in trouble all the time for having a civvy case for my rifle. I'd only take the d@mn thing out for meals and guard duty.
Another stunt they pulled was to issue our rifles, but without the bolt-carrier group, which in the M-16A1 pretty much meant it was useless, even if you could score a new one.

As for black helicopters, I don't know if this means anything, but on one exercise we got to chat with some guys from an NG chopper unit, and someone brought the subject up. The pilot laughed, and said there were a couple reasons you might see one painted that way. One, it was a former civvy bird that was brought into the fleet for a temporary assignment before disposal. Two, it was a soon-to-be-retired military bird used to simulate an enemy chopper. Three, it may have been a tactic to keep the airframe warm at altitude (we trained on a plateau in the Rockies), and lastly, it was meant for birds which were intended to fly only at night.
