And the Redskins. I can't imagine why anyone in Washington or Tampa would want to pay attention to some dork at the RNC though.

2012-08-24 01:27:14 PM
Why are you holding an NFL game on Wednesday?

2012-08-24 01:28:02 PM
I blame dan schneider.

/for everything

The big question left: Will NBC, which currently plans to drop coverage of the Democratic National Convention on Sept. 5 for a football game, also feel pressure to change their plans?

Wow,that IS an interesting question. Anyone wanna take odds on this happening? I mean, the GOP can get down off of their crosses now, but who thinks they'll play this up into some kind of 'Poor us, the 'Liberal Media' hates us!' thing?

Mikey1969: but who thinks they'll play this up into some kind of 'Poor us, the 'Liberal Media' hates us!' thing?

What letter does the name of today's day end with?

2012-08-24 01:34:08 PM
cdn.faniq.com

The station then asked the Buccs to move the game back an extra hour, so they can show reruns of Seinfeld.

2012-08-24 01:35:05 PM
I thought they blacked out all the Bucs games in Tampa so people wouldn't be reminded of them.

/not on in Tampa tonight, but it is on in Ft. Myers.

Not really. One is a locally-only televised (final) pre-season game. The other is the nationally televised first official game of the entire season. Big BIG difference.

2012-08-24 01:36:55 PM
Paul Ryan's speeches do tend to have some comedy value.

2012-08-24 01:40:23 PM
what's next? Co-opting the Pro Bowl?! The college softball world series???!! Do these people have no shame??!

2012-08-24 01:43:05 PM
The games should be adjusted for both conventions, considering they delayed a game in order to air Obama's half hour ad in 2008 (which conservatives whined about as "Obama ruined football").

2012-08-24 01:44:06 PM
Put him up in the booth with Madden.

"Well you see here, Paul, to win, Republicans are going to need to score more votes than the other team."

MrEricSir: Paul Ryan's speeches do tend to have some comedy value.

As do the Buccaneers. The Bucs at least have a plan that makes sense.

Gosling: Why are you holding an NFL game on Wednesday?

It's preseason.

2012-08-24 01:45:39 PM
Wouldn't it be easier to move the time of the speech if he wants people to hear it so damn bad?

2012-08-24 01:47:04 PM
Paul Ryan might be the only thing I'm less interested in than a preseason Bucs Redskins game.

2012-08-24 01:47:40 PM
The NFL moved the Opening Day for Obama, so it's not unreasonable for Ryan to ask. What would be unreasonable is for him to throw a snit if they do not because a sitting president is not equal to some guy from the House auditioning for the vice presidency.

2012-08-24 01:48:34 PM
NFL Game
GOP or Democratic convention

Maybe I'm out of touch, but I can't understand why anyone would want to watch either.

Grungehamster: The games should be adjusted for both conventions, considering they delayed a game in order to air Obama's half hour ad in 2008 (which conservatives whined about as "Obama ruined football").

Someone's probably already corrected me, but it was game 6 of the World Series, so it was "Obama ruined baseball."

2012-08-24 01:49:52 PM
why not put both of them on and let the free market decide what people watch. They could put the convention on PBS

2012-08-24 01:50:20 PM
Emptier promises: Paul Ryan's speech, or the hype around Joshua Freeman?

2012-08-24 01:51:42 PM
The NFL don't care about your puny politics

And one is the Republican National Convention, the other is the Democratic National Convention. NO difference.

/Not that I have ever watched, or plan to ever watch, a political convention.

You know what the difference is between Paul Ryan and the Tampa Bay Bucs?

Lipstick.

Josh Freeman is a top 5 quarterback.

2012-08-24 01:56:45 PM
That would really disappoint the Bucs fan.

2012-08-24 02:00:42 PM
All kidding aside, I like you, Bucs fans. As a fellow NFC Souther, you Bucs fans are consistently fun to hang out with, and there's little to no conference rival douchebaggery.

Falcons fans, well, you can all suck a fart out of my asshole.

/my final escaping breath will be, "I hate the Falcons."

The worst part of any political convention are the cos-players...

2012-08-24 02:02:58 PM
Division, I meant.

2012-08-24 02:04:29 PM
If it's not the Buccaneers, it's the Republican Butt Pirates...Looks like you can't win either way Tampa Bay, and for that, I'm truly sorry.

One of them enjoys tackling other men and slapping their asses and the other is a profesional football team?

Guys, I can't tell you how important it is for me to watch every minute of both of these multiple day long scripted advertisements for private political organizations.

you're no alt of mine

2012-08-24 02:10:38 PM
Shouldn't they have had the forethought to plan this out and coordinate with the network months ahead of time? I know the major sports leagues get together when doing scheduling to attempt to eliminate as much overlap in their schedules as possibles to avoid scheduling conflicts with games. You mean to tell me that months ago they couldn't have gotten together with NBC to work this out, because I'm pretty sure that they knew what day they were planning on having the VP contender speak.

Epoch_Zero: Hockey laughs, continues being superior.

Hockey wouldn't have to worry about this anyway because only Canadians and Americans who are disqualified from voting watch hockey, so hockey fans would have no interest in an American political convention.

Not a score, my prediction for Freeman's completion rate in this game.

Yeah we generally save the douchebaggery for Panthers fans.

/seriously, fark the Panthers

America's Signature Team Sport vs. America's Other Signature Team Sport!

Who will emerge victorious from this all out battle between a bunch of aggressive, narrow-minded idiots... and football fans?!

Find out this Sunday! Tune in for the Republican National Convention at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers! It's going to be a bloodbath to remember! Do NOT abort this channel!

Since the late '70's we have been well schooled in the arts of humility and drowning our sorrows.

So, yeah, we kind of expect to lose and never really learned to be sore winners should we be victorious ;)

To keep voter turnout low because few people are informed.
