Canyon High School will eliminate "Señores and Señoritas Day," an event where students were encouraged to don Latino-themed attire"... It was determined some students dressed in stereotypical fashion which was not appropriate, and that the actions of these students were demeaning,"

What the fark did you think would happen? You basically asked them to dress as stereotypes. Did you think kids in high school, an Orange County high school of all places, would embrace your carefully-planned little holiday with grace and a sensitive eye towards Latino heritage? Farking idiots.

One boy dressed as a gardener, while another boy dressed as a pregnant girl pushing a baby stroller. Others dressed as gang members with bandanas and teardrop tattoo replicas. Some students wore plaid Pendleton shirts, ponchos, large sombreros and mustaches. A few students dressed as INS agents, walking around the campus "arresting Mexican students."

OK, what are their Fark handles...

best "Señores and Señoritas Day" EVER!

2012-08-24 01:01:52 PM
If they had had that in my day (c. 1980) we would have had tacos. Then again, I think there was like maybe 2 or 3 Hispanics in the whole school district. More now, but I bet they'd still have tacos...maybe a few cool hats and blankets.

But wait, I thought racism was no longer still rampant in America? Are you saying the The American Thinker lied to me?

Now now, let's only endorse friendly, acceptable stereotypes, kids!

What!?!? Teenagers behaving boorishly and being racist little shiats? Inconceivable!

I once dressed as Pancho Villa for Halloween. Instead of the bandolier filled with bullets. I used frozen taquitos. It was fun and all until the taquitos defrosted. It really started to smell and they didn't want to stay together very well.

So ... this has been going on for three years, yet the complaint comes from a former student (graduated last year). Way to stand up for your convictions

Bahahahaha. Pause for breath. Bahahahaha.

My favorite part is how it got out of hand last year, so of course they did it again this year.

Bahahahaha.

Those aren't stereotypes, that is their culture.
Latinos demean themselves.

I love it when even high school students can identify liberal politically-correct bullshiat and give it the mocking it so richly deserves. These high schoolers deserve a medal.

They should probably all be executed now, it's really going to save everyone trouble moving forward.

Stereotypes are grounded from statistical fact. Hope your political correctness gets you through life unscathed.

Lemme know how the dirt tastes when you have your head buried down there.

To be fair to the rest of us non-racists in Orange County, Canyon High School is in one of the whiter, richer parts of town (Anaheim Hills).

I especially like how this went on for years without anyone really noticing.

Seriously, how was this NOT going to happen? You want a day like that? Great.

Hire a Mariachi band.
Invite the Mexican Consulate to help with festive but appropriate atmosphere. Encourage Latinos from all countries represented at the school to wear what the consider representative.

No definition of "multiculturalism" should include misappropriating others' culture which is what happens when you tell everyone to come dressed as someone from another culture, especially teenagers with no guidance from that culture and

FTFA: "• School administration to add a vetting process whereby each activity is reviewed to determine what might go wrong or whom it might offend"

This is going to be a very boring school year.

no sports - someone might get injured, team names from visiting schools could be deemed offensive, and if Little Joaquim doesn't get the same play time as Johnny, there'll be hell to pay

No school dances - someone might get injured, the songs being played could be deemed offensive, and if Little Joaquim doesn't get the same play time as Johnny, there'll be hell to pay

I could go on
