We get to talk about tax returns again on or around October 15th. Brilliant move, Team Mitt.

In the thread just below this one Mitt Romney states that businesses are doing fine. By trickle down extension folks will be doing fine, therefore the economy is doing fine. Now that the Mitt Romney has the economy wrapped up, let's get back to rape, abortion, and tax returns.

"It's a huge distraction," Saul Anuzis, a RNC member from Michigan and a top Romney backer, said of the emotional quarreling touched off by embattled Missouri Rep. Todd Akin earlier this week. "We should be talking about the economy and here we are consumed by these side issues."

Oh just STFU. You're the ones who plowed this into an election issue in the first place. That's not our fault. Lie in the bed you made, asshole.

How about Ol' Mitt try a different approach... like coming up with ways to get that money back into a taxable venue so as to show case a 'good faith' effort on the part of people and people-corporations to handle the deficit.

THEN we can talk about that tax plan of his.

Things the GOP has been forced to talk about this week: "legitmate rape", abortion, tax returns, and of course, the weather

No one forced Akin to open up his dumbhole and make shiat up about rape victims, nor did anyone force that fat fark Huckabee to back him up. No one forced the GOP to nominate a forced birth advocate and add a personhood amendment to the party platform. No one forced those things at all.

Tax returns and the weather... yeah, I guess those count. Though I would argue that Romney could have put the issue to rest weeks ago.

It's rough when the particulars of your party platform are laid out in all of their abhorrent splendor for all to see, and all the worse when that's all anyone wants to talk about.

Personally, I'm hoping for a gay sex scandal during the convention from some prominent Reps. I'll take a prostitution sting, but really, Akin or King caught being the chinese fingercuffs in a threesome would crack me up.

You folks have been using "side issues" (aka "wedge issues") as a primary part of your arsenal for years now.

You're suddenly upset that it's biting you in the ass?

They want to talk about the economy? Is that why they've spent their congressional majority redefining rape, meddling with birth control, and voting to overturn Obamacare thirty farking times?

Real people, including Tampa residents could get hurt or injured, so yeah, it kind of makes you a horrible person. I don't like the Republican platform much easier, but lets not be the folks who wish harm on those they disagree with.

2012-08-24 12:37:29 PM
If I were a Republican, and looking back at the effect of my party's policies on the economy, I'd be dancing a jig and singing, "Thank God for 'legitimate rape' morons!"

They want to talk about the economy, but they're too farking stupid to do it. See? No contradiction.

They'd still be talking about rape. They just refer to it as "tax policy."

Yep. By leaving and letting qualified people take over.

2012-08-24 12:41:05 PM
They want to talk about the economy because they have convinced people that "Republican" = "Good with Economics." Nevermind that historically this is the opposite of true, and nevermind that the current policy proposals - if you can get them to actually commit to anything - are provable to be economically devastating.

2012-08-24 12:42:30 PM
So basically they don't want to be responsible for their actions and just want people to look away and focus on something else while they continue to be the ones stirring the pot when it comes to abortion and rights. They want to do stuff and not get called out on it. I wish they'd leave it all alone, too and just focus on the economy! How about they drop it and focus on the economy and then that's what we'll talk about?

Right? They don't want to talk about it, but they sure want to legislate on it. It would be so easy to say "my position on abortion is that the laws should stay as they are for now. My focus is on policies that will bring economic stability prosperity back to Americans, and I will not be wasting time with legislation having to do with abortion." But no, they have to court the voters who think economic downturns are caused by God being angry about all the gays and abortions.

You're right, of course. But if Fartbonga Obama is using his super secret hurricane creating machine, I don't see why he couldn't send a targeted storm surge to hit only the convention site. A hurricane drone if you will. He seems pretty efficient at that.
