I think many news outlets covered this story. This week and last week. I think it was dropped due to a great, elaborate conspiracy strictly to frustrate subby or, to garner many failed submission on fark with a butthurt headline or, due to the fact that both people were of the age of consent, no money was exchanged, no laws were broken. It's probably the first possibility, maybe the second and the third possibility is the least likely...because you know, the world works to make subs all mad and have a persecution complex.

Which news outlet is going to be the first to report on the poor chicken who's been continually violated against its will by Fark Independents for like three months straight now, is what I wanna know.

Funny how CNN doesn't cover this stuff when it is a Democratic Senator. He's not a a Senator? Still they look the other way when it is a Dimocrat Congressman. Oh, he's State representative. Still deserves some coverage because it isn't like a Republican candidate who could shift the control of Nation's Senate said that a woman can't get pregnant from legitimate rape.

2012-08-24 09:54:49 AM
To be fair to CNN, a US Congressman running for US Senate is a lot more important than some state rep from Canada's foreskin.

2012-08-24 09:55:49 AM
Has Fox News covered the story of a Maryland legislator who was BUI and nearly killed 5 kids? Or is it the R in front of his name?

yes, republicans - keep this story in the news cycle. it can only help your chances in november.

rumpelstiltskin: Canada's foreskin.

I thought that was Nova Scotia.

Wait an adult male had sex with another consenting of-age adult male? This is the story that republicans demand outrage over? Surely it must because if the guy had sex with someone who wasn't able to legitimately consent then surely he would be arrested. He was arrested for his illegal sexual contact right? No, the sex was lawful...so the outrage is man on man sex?

//I said surely twice!

underage

Not so much, freepmitter and the derpmod that greened this.

2012-08-24 10:01:26 AM
I see... You're confused about the "underage" part.

Look, why don't you morons just come out and say it: "We believe that being gay is illegal."

2012-08-24 10:03:27 AM
Speaking of pointless repeat stories.

Hey, NewsBusters, are you listening? Okay. Great.

Republicans are very uncomfortable with a story about two men having sex. They're going to need to loosen their pants.

It's because the belief system the politician in question has exposed here make it likely, nay inevtiable, that he will try and enact legislation forcing us all to have gay sex with 17-year-olds.

Angry Drunk Bureaucrat: rumpelstiltskin: Canada's foreskin.

Canada actually kept Nova Scotia. They could have kept Minnesota, but they looked at it and said, "What the heck is that?" And snipped it right off.

Bitter much, Subby?

2012-08-24 10:06:34 AM
Republicans, you have an entire cable news network devoted to your point of view, surely you can report on news stories the libs dont.

Dont like CNN? Dont watch.

Hey, they pointed out that it would be illegal in other states, just not this one.

Sex between men is a big story and Newsbusters wants to see everyone all over it.

NewsBusters is concerned a legitimate news outlet doesn't meet their criteria being fair and balanced?

I don't think 17 is quite a man yet but not he is underage in Minnie.

CNN didn't report on the unfair thing Mr. Crowder said at my Home Association meeting last week. Every time I turned on the TV there was something about spastic tubes.

Whereas Todd Akin's private beliefs on rape are totally personal and not in any way connected to his political philosophy or future policy positions.

Hey, is this one of those "ALL LIBERALS ARE CARD-CARRYING MEMBERS OF NAMBLA" threads I've been hearing about?

2012-08-24 10:11:55 AM
I'm not going to wait for Wadsworth Republicans here to unmask me. I work for the [government]...and I have had sex with multiple women, each of whom was once underage.

I feel no personal shame in this, but it's something I had to get off my chest.

// I also used to be under 21, and I have had alcohol served to me by many a barkeep, even as recently as Monday night

2012-08-24 10:13:12 AM
Age of consent in Minnesota is 16 so the boy wasn't underage. Facts... how do they work Subby?

2012-08-24 10:13:19 AM
When I was seventeen
It was a very good year
It was a very good year for Minnesota men
And soft summer nights
We'd hide from the lights
On the rest stop green
When I was seventeen

One is a local news story, the other has national implications.

2012-08-24 10:13:25 AM
Besides the age-of-consent questions and the state House versus US Senate scope questions, there's also the fact that Gauthier has pulled out of the race. Making him no longer a candidate, and thus inherently somewhat less interesting than full-steam-ahead candidate Akin.

The worst part is that his colleagues in the state congress are biatching about the incident but they are the exact people that decide the age of consent. If they find it so objectionable, they should change the law. Otherwise, STFU.

He's not underage, you mouthbreathing cocks.

2012-08-24 10:14:46 AM
NewsBusters is going to insist on probing this issue hard and long. It will keep driving until it busts news all over this story.

2012-08-24 10:14:54 AM
TFA: We're guessing CNN's defense would be that Gauthier is not a national politician

Well, there's that too.

So, to recap... a) he wasn't underage; 2) the story was covered anyway, plenty; potato) it's a false equivalency in the first place; and ?) derp.

We done here?

2012-08-24 10:15:02 AM
Speaking of Todd Akin, we have a poll out this morning from Missouri showing Obama leading Romney by a point. This poll comes courtesy of Scott Rassmussen.

Freepers are in full meltdown mode. This is so much fun :)

2012-08-24 10:15:44 AM
Aww, sorry that the intense spotlight on the misogyny of the national GOP during a presidential election cycle is not going away over a consensual, though lewd, gay encounter involving a minnesota state rep that has zero national implications.

2012-08-24 10:15:48 AM
Sinner down ragemitter. Take a soothing drive in the country, perhaps visit a rest stop or two.

Vodka Zombie: I see... You're confused about the "underage" part.

Not disputing anything else, but technically he was underage. The age of consent is 16 in Minnesota, but if the other guy is in a position of authority, the age of consent is 18.

Completely false equivalence, though.

2012-08-24 10:16:47 AM
The fact the kid was 17 years old is probably not the main story. I can only assume if the politicization was sucking his dick was because he was also a serious contributor to his campaign.

2012-08-24 10:17:14 AM

rudemix: no laws were broken

I would have thought sex in a public place would be against the law.

/agreed with everything else.

You forgot to mention the boy didn't get pregnant and didn't get an abortion.

2012-08-24 10:17:32 AM
Wait, the outrage is that a state representative had sex with a consenting individual over the legal age of consent within that state, and teh state representative still opted not to stand for re-election?

Not sure where the story is in this one: "Man has sex with man. Changes job." Doesn't exactly sound like it would sell papers generate page clicks.

2012-08-24 10:17:42 AM
The problem is that a liberal man having sex with a teen boy isn't surprising to anyone. It's what liberal men do.

Right, but he was involved in a homosexual encounter so everybody get up in arms right now.
