I use Pinterest. I'll admit it. Sure, it may not be for everyone, but here's why I use it:

- Cool photos and images. I use bookmarks for regular websites and I don't want them cluttered up with individual images, artwork, and photos. Pinterest displays every website you pin by an image on that site, so I create my own gallery of images I want to keep.

- Recipes. You can save any recipe with a photo on Pinterest. So when I go through my "recipes" board, I'm basically browsing through a photo gallery of food. I click on whatever meal I want to make and viola, it takes me to the recipe.

OK I just read the article and it's like they're describing a completely different website. Apparently people use it to promote their own arts and crafts and whatnot? Don't we use Facebook for that?

I use it strictly as a utility for visually bookmarking websites by their images. Occasionally I get an email that someone has "repinned" one of my pins, but I couldn't care less. I've never clicked on any other person's pins or profile. Perhaps there are better tools for bookmarking by image?

Hmmm... a little defensive, are we?

/First I've heard of it.
//Will never visit it.

It's an improvement, but it still needs work.

I really don't think I needed to see a picture of a woman and a coconut golem getting raped. You own me a jug of mental bleach.

I'm like you. I'm planning my wedding, so it helps me to make a virtual ideas board where everything is laid out and I can go to the exact page where I found something if I decide to order it. Rarely do I use it to browse what others have pinned to their boards. I don't quite get the whole social aspect of it, except to point to my friends and family asking me what I'm wanting for the wedding.

It's a way to not only fantasize about your fabulous, romantic hopes and dreams, but make other people acknowledge them.

It's like mom catnip.

I love using Pinterest for recipes. And for gardening tips. And photos of interesting places to visit when I travel.

I really don't understand the "social media" aspect of the site and I really don't pay attention to the arts-n-crafts crap. No, I don't need to learn how to make a giftmas wreath out of plastic spoons and grocery bags.

Pinterest always seemed too suburban housewife-y for me.
Pinterest also doesn't have nearly as many random pics of cocks as Tumblr.

/soooo many dicks

A few months ago my wife was all agiggle that Neal Patrick Harris started following her on pinterest. Then the week after that, Tina Fey. Then someone else, I can't remember. I think that's pretty neat. As do whomever does their PR, I guess.

I finally looked that stuff up, such a weird concept. I still don't understand his 'frailty and insecurity' of 3 guys forcing him to watch them pour milk over a woman...

its a bit dafuq

Got an account, and was baffled when their "etiquette" guide says it's meant for posting of other peoples' stuff you like, not your own creations. All I could think was "wow, it's the world's laziest blog where you post about all the things other people make that you like".

It's just so WTF that it achieves it's own Zen of inexplicability. At any rate, we thank him for providing surreal Internet images for all to enjoy.
