Ouch. A 19-point swing. Sounds like Akin is gonna be legitimately raped.

Typical libs, beating a dead horse until it's dead. You libs sure seem to be hiding something, with all of your looking down your nose at a man who speaks the truth about rape.

Sure, don't get me wrong, girls do occasionally get raped. The vast majority of them don't get pregnant, because they are already on the pill. Add to the fact that they are usually in situations where such an event is likely, they probably aren't the kind that wants a baby anyways, which sure does make the "oh boo hoo, my own irresopnsibility has caused me to need to have this baby sucked out of my ovaries" BS.

Your living in a fantasy land libs. The majority of Americans don't want abortionists to be able to practice their evil craft. They side with the innocent, the baby. Is it soooo much to expect a woman to give up 9 months of her life? Nobodys saying you have to raise the kid... give it up for adoption. but the government has no right to say that you can mess with the body of that life growing inside you. Some things are just not meant to be messed with, and the right of the baby is far more than your "oh sorry I got into this mess" self.

This election can't come soon enough. We need government out of our business and back to creating business. But no... you keep bringing up abortion, birth control, gays, etc instead of focusing on the issues. Pay attention to the convention this weekend in Tampa, libs. You here what real America wants, and you will know how to vote.

See y'all at the poles!!!

Rassmussen's a cog in the Republican machine, of course his "poll" reflects the current party stance.

What a difference one TV interview can make.

I've been tempted to donate to the Akin campaign just to see if he'll stick around a little longer. I haven't seen anything this entertaining since Palin quit her last job.

Damn liberal polls

2012-08-23 01:48:14 PM
The GOP will sue to get him off the ballot just so they the DNC can't use him to tar every Republican with him.

"So, Candidate X, you say you are pro-Life, do you agree with Todd Akin on abortion?"

"Of course not."

"But he and you share the same pro-life stances?"

Then watch the spin.

It's a tempting point of view but...nah. I gotta go with the non-conspiracy interpretation of this, which is that when you're a Republican and RASMUSSEN is showing you getting your brains beat in your campaign ain't shiat

Considering everyone expected him to get hammered and the Party Leadership is begging him to drop out I would imagine this poll isn't going to be that different than any other poll. It wouldn't serve a purpose to inflate numbers now: they want him out so they can put in someone with a shot at winning.

It's more like 35% one you factor out the 3% margin for Conservatrolling inherent in Rasmussen. Not great, but better.

Just because they are "reporting" results that I (and, apparently, Karl Rove) would favor... does not mean that their methodology is any more sound today than it has ever been.

Their results tend to reflect the desires of the GOP power structure. This is no different, no truer and no better.

Out of all that poeslaw, that's what you complain about?

I'm pretty cynical. I expect that over time, people will forget, and Akin will continue to hammer home the message that a vote for McCaskill is a vote for 0bama's policies. Plus, there's the whole "Out of state libs are giving McCaskill money! Lamestream establishment Republicans want to silence true conservatives! Show them they can't come in here and tell the voters of the great state of Missoureh how to vote!"

Three months from now, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Akin squeaks out a narrow victory.

The real question is whether Missouri voters have enough of an attention span for this to actually matter by this time next month, at which point some combination of the words "tax cut", "God", and traditional marriage" may cause a Pavlovian return to the fold.

That's what I never got. My father-in-law (it's always the father-in-law, isn't it?) and most of my coworkers would still vote for him.

They are all fine with gay marriage.
They are all fine with a woman's right to choose.
They are all fine with the Department of Education.
Most of them are even okay with hot lunches for poor school kids.

AND YET they won't vote for Obama because..Illegal immigration some twisted belief that they would actually benefit under Romney's tax plans.

What's sad is that it's pure selfishness. They're fine with rights for other people, but they'll vote for the party that will work to deny those rights to other people if they think it might benefit themselves slightly. A minor tax break (which they won't actually get, but they think they will) is more important to them than a woman's right to control her own body or for a person to marry the person they love. They believe that their financial benefit, however slight, is more important than someone else's fundamental human rights.

Their polling always tightens up right before the actual race to maintain credibility then goes back to fudging some numbers right after.

The closer it is to an election, the more accurate their polling goes. If you were to only look at their October polls, they'd look like one of the best polling firms around.

B-b-but that other poll from before the story had gotten much traction, showing Akin still retained a 1-point lead!

By which I mean a statistical tie even though nobody was responsible enough to report it that way!
