Because it was all Obama's fault.

And the Republicans didn't do anything to block any policies that may have helped even more, while holding the American people hostage to their crazy agenda all to win an election that they are now going to lose.

How you like them apples, teatardmitter?

As someone who voted for Obama, I think the economy is rebounding rather nicely in spite of Republican efforts to cripple it. Of course, the only people who call it "dismal" are those who have no idea what the hell the economy should be doing in the first freakin' place and probably shouldn't even have a voice in this discussion.

But, you know, keep on lying to America, Daily Caller. It's really the only way Republicans can win since they literally have nothing factual to run on.

2012-08-23 10:28:27 AM
So, clearly, 19-26 year-olds should vote for the party that will slash their Pell Grants, reintroduce for-profit middle-men into student loans, kick them off their parents health care, allow whatever insurance company they manage to sign onto to f*ck them over in all the old ways Obamacare made illegal, destroy their future Medicare benefits, destroy any hope of Social Security after they retire, and slash taxes on the millionaires and billionaires that aren't hiring them anyways.

That makes sense.

2012-08-23 10:38:11 AM
So vote in some Republican asshole who will create an economy 'free' of any restraints and watch another economic meltdown happen all over again.

2012-08-23 10:50:30 AM
Headline is decent. Needs a bit o' work.

2012-08-23 10:54:15 AM
Remember how, during an economic downturn, economists always suggest you're supposed to significantly cut government spending and focus on the debt?

Yeah, neither do I.

2012-08-23 10:55:33 AM

sweetmelissa31: Apparently Generation Opportunity is supposed to be a non-partisan organization for young people, except that all of their "issues" revolve around how Fartcare is ruining your life. They also apparently thing that the second biggest worry on young people's minds is the national debt. Additionally, this is their president:

[www.c-spanvideo.org image 433x298]

Looks like someone who really speaks for young people.

Totally not a front group. Totally a grassroots organization. Totally.

And yet, despite not having any idea what Romney is going to do to allegedly fix the economy, farkwits are STILL going to vote for the guy.

2012-08-23 11:31:32 AM
Yeah.... I'm having a hard time believing that people who actually understand how our politcal powers function to harm/repair the economy would vote for anyone but Obama.

Then again, there is a lot about this election that is completely blowing my farking mind. I'm terrified of the politics being shat out lately. It is so gross.

People voted three times in the last election?

2012-08-23 12:35:04 PM
Hey, **I** voted 2-1 for Obama but this time I'm thinking of casting all 3 votes for him this time. I'm on a horse

2012-08-23 12:35:46 PM
Obama promised a Rainbow farting unicorn. He delivered a regular horse.

The GOP is running on a horse killing platform. They will replace the dead horse with this:

www.squarewheels.com

This is, incidentally, what Obama replaced with the Horse.

So vote Republican

2012-08-23 12:36:20 PM
Compared to Republican promises to dismantle medicare, legitimize rape, and go to war with Iran, non-existant rainbow farting unicorns sound preferable to me.

2012-08-23 12:37:01 PM
Romney would do zero to help young people get jobs, pay off student loans, get healthcare, ZERO!

FTA: "Eighty-nine percent of young people between the ages of 18 and 29 - also known as Millennials - say the dismal economy is impacting their day-to-day lives in a negative way, according to a survey released Wednesday by the group Generation Opportunity."

"Generation Opportunity is a Right-Wing front group... ...As it turns out - the group is a front group for ultra-conservative economic policy, spinning fake or cherry picked polling data, and running one of the largest AstroTurf 2.0 operations ever seen!" Link

Lets hear exactly how McCain being president would have had a better impact on the economy.

This oughta be good.

2012-08-23 12:38:11 PM
Why don't I ever get these calls.

The economy isn't really negatively impacting my line of work (industrial equipment and software).

If anything our customers are seeing increases in the prices of what they produce, and are buying upgrades and brand new systems from us, as well as running extra shifts (gotta love the 3AM service call)

We've been freaking busy the last couple years, even though we did have a tough go of it early 2008-late 2009.

2012-08-23 12:38:23 PM
Oh so it's going to be one of those days is it? You stay classy, San Diego!

GOP: You should vote Obama out of office because he failed to fix the mess we created, despite our best efforts to prevent him from accomplishing anything. We promise that, if you put us back in office, we'll double our efforts to do the same sort of thing that caused the mess in the firs place.

And half of America is buying this. For real.

The correct term is "teabilly farkwad". Please make a note of it.

Everyone knows that running up the deficit was the dumbest thing Obama ever did, right? Those 4 million created jobs were just on paper, right? That if the US had just developed harsh austerity measures, we could have come out of this thing by now, right? Like Greece, right?

Right. Seriously assholes, what kind of America do you want:

the kind with horrible debt and deficits and a mediocre but slowly recovering economy OR
a depression that would last a decade with reduced welfare and government services and an even worse economy and yet still debt and deficits?

Those were your two choices in 2009. And you did Obama no favors voting Scott Brown into office and then voting in the Tea Party morons into office in 2010.

Make up your farking mind, America.

2012-08-23 12:41:50 PM
The economy is really much better. I mean, the economy might not be better for YOU because you have a common skill set in an over populated area and you're really over-qualified / too insulted to just take any job available like your guilt tells you you should. But, over all, the economy is comparably chipper these days. Except for you. The economy hates you and your family because you suck.

2012-08-23 12:42:21 PM
Remember kids, Obummer DOES have the power to FORCE congress to sign bills into law. And if you believe that, there is legitimate rape I would like to sell to you.

//rape.

Please don't think Obama has the election in the bag. Sitting here on FARK saying all this is not a substitute for getting out and spreading the word amongst voters. If you cannot or will not, then donate to people who can and will.

I have to say I am impressed with the wel lthought out, lucid responses from my fellow Farkers today. They show a solid understanding of economics, politics, and open markets. As opposed to the other days when it's a free for all of folks who get thier politics from Rachel Madow, or the Daily show and come on here and crap out hatefull somphmoric quibs....

Oh wiat....never mind. Carry on you Scholars of Fark.

Try registering as "Non-Partisan". Holy sheet, I get at least 5 calls a night now, I used to troll them out of spite, but now I just don't answer the phone.
