Too bad the video didn't show how he handled the heckler.

As much as I don't particularly care for the Yankees, and it's basically in my baseball-fan DNA to hope they fail miserably, I can't quite bring myself to hate Girardi. He is an OK guy. I hope he loses.

So Girardi did the security guard's job.

If the Rangers hadn't beaten NY in the 2010 ALCS, I think you'd find a way to hate him, Di.

/I hope he loses, too

WTF Indeed: So Girardi did the security guard's job.

What did he do other than walk over toward the guy & say, "Hey, shut up! I'm doing an interview!"

It looks like it was the line out of the stadium and one guy was standing in line heckling Joe with security just standing there. All Joe did was tell the security guard to get off his lazy ass and push the guy out the door.

I actually prefer Girardi to Torre. But my favorite recent Yankee coach is:

I was hoping it was something cool like going grabbing the guy and make him handle the questions. Alas it was something lame.

Hey, let's give Comiskey Park security credit here. At least they didn't let the guy attack Girardi and beat the hell out of him. Progress.

I was at a White Sox game a few years back and before the game they ran a "Rise Above" segment reminding fans to not be assholes. That should tell you everything you need to know about White Sox fans.

You sure that was targeted to fans and not Ozzie Guillen?

Every sport has that 25% of complete assholes who do stupid crap like this. Same ones would beat up an umpire at a little league game because his wittle snowflake blows.

/I am a yankees fan, I dont bother heckling Boston fans or anyone else - Its ok to be proud about your team - there are fun ways to heckle for example chanting "lets go YOUR TEAM".

//Biggest douche move i ever seen was a Boston fan screaming at Jeter calling him a N**ger.....I really feel bad for the fans that show up to cheer their team and have to listen to this - especially with kids around.
I dont mind heckling, as long as its good taste - classless? yep well its a sport its gona happen.

Two incidents.

1. Two drunks from Indiana who admitted they weren't even White Sox fans.

2. One drunk Cubs fan who was at a Cubs game earlier in the day.  (Its rare, but sometimes there is a Cubs home game during the day and a White Sox home game at night.  They try not to have this happen, because the drunks- who are barely baseball fans- take it as an opportunity to drink all day.  Especially since you can tailgate at Sox games hours before the game.)

I'm not really sure what point you're trying to make, my post wasn't intended to impugn White Sox fans, but their lackluster security force who apparently think it's okay to allow a drunken imbecile to scream at the opposing manager in the runway after the game instead of immediately escorting him off the premises.

Good for Girardi. I love my Sox, but I can't stand douchey fans of any team.

No, that's a perfectly fine point.  And I agree.  But you said "progress" which referenced those other two incidents.  At least I thought thats what you meant.

That could've easily been an upset Yankee fan.

All of this. I'll spout off the occasional negative adjective in casual conversation, but I sure as hell wouldn't make my entire fandom out of it. I'm interested in MY team, not hating someone else's. If we were all fans of the same teams, it'd be boring.

No matter what, they're still better than what passes for security at Phillies games (as long as ticketholders are attacking the visiting team, anyway).

Girardi permanently has my respect for being the one to announce Darryl Kile's death.
