That's going to be rather difficult when the Republican stance on women is "Get back in the kitchen and fix me a sammitch, you stupid broodmare sluts who can't be trusted to know what is best for your own bodies."

So they should never open their mouths again?

2012-08-23 08:55:07 AM
The GOP has already clearly communicated how they will address many issues important to women and men who care about women.

2012-08-23 08:58:00 AM
Will this be legitimate communication?

2012-08-23 08:59:30 AM
Translation: Women will care about what WE TELL THEM to care about.

2012-08-23 08:59:48 AM
You can't just address the issues. Addressing isn't the problem. The issues are well addressed already.

The problem is that your policy position is insulting and unfair.

The sick thing about this is that there are women in this country who agree with them. Actual, living, breathing women who believe that men have dominion over their bodies, and that if their husband tells them to do something, they damn well better do it before he has to repeat himself. Michele Bachmann became a tax lawyer because her flaming queerbait husband told her to, and the Bible says women are to be submissive to men. Did she want to be a tax lawyer? It doesn't matter. She was told to do it, so she did it.

As long as the Republican Party is the party of Christofascist misogyny, this shiat will never change.

Republicans might have a small problem on their hands.

So it's about perception, not about the fundamentally backwards and insulting policy positions themselves. Thanks for clearing that up.

But I was told that Missouri would elect Akin in a landside because the state is so backwards. Nevermind that the evidence for this was pointing to polls taken before he made his infamous comment

Think college is expensive now? Wait until ObamaCare kicks in

Question for Americans: If sometime during the next 10 weeks Israel attacked Iran but Obama decided not to get America involved, would that encourage you to vote Obama or Romney?

Will the Romney Campaign Demand Release of the Obama-Khalidi Video?

Has the left been too easy on Obama and too hard on Bush?

If Republicans want to win this fall, they will need to clearly communicate to women why their candidate is the best candidate to address the very important issues that women care about

Haha, you stupid libs. What you don't get is that the GOP *is* adressing issues that are important to women. Everyone knows that the #1 issue among women aged 18-59 is that we need lower taxes for rich people.

Face!

From TFA:

A greater percentage of women vote.

The economy is far and away the biggest issue with women.

Bad news for Obama.

Their positions on the issues make it very very difficult to convey that idea to anyone, anywhere, at all, ever.

That is sadly close to their ACTUAL responses. 'Women voters are interested in providing for their family, the cost of groceries and the cost of gas. Not these hot button issues - let's talk about the economy, not the bills we keep passing to limit their pay and medical rights, or the constant comments praising only stay at home moms, or our lack of women candidate for national office.'

The easiest way to satirize republicans is to just think of what they would exactly say in any situation and say it. Stephen Colbert has made a very fine living for himself doing exactly this.

Well yes there are some Quiverfull type women who buy the Christian patriarchy line and squirt out kids nonstop. But I think there are a lot more mainstream conservative women. They are "rah rah Republican" in public. But if they or their daughters had to get an abortion, they'd go quietly to Planned Parenthood or an abortion clinic in Canada or Europe, if it could be managed. And they do not want to have 10 kids and therefore get some kind of birth control, while dissing it in public and calling other women sluts. Reproductive control for me but not for thee.

There is a lot of disconnect for conservative Christians between public face and private reality.  As long as you look good in church and the public square, you can do whatever you want in private. Jebus is the "Get Out of Hell Free" card that excuses all sins.  If you get busted and your sins go public, you just need to grovel and get born again, then you're rehabilitated. See Ted Haggard for example who has grown a new church after getting caught with a gay prostitute and drugs.

Leading and even winning the women vote is a given. It's the margin that matters at this point.

2012-08-23 10:39:59 AM
Listening to NPR this morning, they were talking to Republican women who support Romney and when asked about any particular "women's issues" that they agree with Romney on over the president, one woman said something to the effect of

"I don't think we should have to pay for other people's birth control, it should be your own personal responsibility"

So if you were wondering who these women are or why they would vote for Republicans, it's very simple: the very very stupid ones.

The GOP trying to adjust itself to address women's issues reminds me of the family guy "women in the workplace" clip.
