What's the voting equivalent of 'Boo-urns?'

2012-08-23 08:40:02 AM
"I've got a question for Governor Romney: How many teachers' jobs are worth another tax cut for millionaires and billionaires?"

Good question.

The line prompted a huge cheer.

Ah, No drama Obama, ever the pragmatist but utterly charming with it.

As the crowd tried to drown out the protester out by chanting "four more years!" Obama said: "You know, that young man probably needed a good teacher. We all need it."

D'oh! That quip wasn't on a teleprompter, was it biatch?

Obama wants to INCLUDE people in the voting process? No wonder Rapeublicans hate him.

How can you hate this man? I can understand disagreeing with the politics, but how can anyone hate the person? He's a good man, with a hard job. I don't get it.

As an aside, how do you think Romney would have dealt with or handled someone booing him during one of his speeches?

I was gonna point out the same thing. I can't wait for the debates!

Gov. Johnson.

It's because he's blah.

I'm sure you can find a clip of that. Ryan's response to a heckler was to suggest that they weren't from Wisconsin because Wisconsinites are too polite to heckle. How someone can represent Packer country and say that is somewhat puzzling.

Improper usage of the "hero" tag gets a -1 from me

Hero tag should be used for either a heroic action "Firefighter looses ass while saving a cute kitten" or just for the sake of pure snark irony "Firefighter saves his own ass leaving a kitten to die in a fire"

But apparently not polite enough to refrain from telling you how polite they are.

Hey, can someone send a note to Drew to add this to the FAQ? We don't want anyone upsetting cman by using tags in a way he doesn't approve of, he might get the vapors.

I'm not sure which ones are going to be more fun, either. Romney doesn't do well off-script and I think Biden might just get Ryan so wound up he'll pop.

Back on Topic: Not really news, but Nevada will go blue again, since the Sharron Angle debacle, the state GOP here was Tea Party infected and went full dysfunctional Derp. So bad the Romney folks have given up on the local GOP running any grassroots/feet on the pavement efforts and have solely relied on out of state produced robo-calls and television ads.

It was. The protester was a liberal plant just so Obama could use the line. It's kind of like how Carson used to bomb jokes on purpose, because the follow-up was funnier.

So, he was brave because he was shiatting himself while rescuing the kitten? Or a hero because he could multitask so well (loosening one's bowels whilest saving a cat).

Either way, I like the logic.

Clark County had an average class size of 32 pupils last year, the highest among the nation's top 20 largest school districts

I went to Catholic school for 12 years and it was COMMON to have 40+ kids in a class. 32 doesn't seem terrible, especially if there's a teacher's assistant around in those cases and considering it is one of the top 20 largest school districts in the country. Either way, I'm thankful that my daughter's class sizes have been in the low 20s so far (she's going into 4th grade).

As he has done in the past, Obama grew personal when he recalled his fifth-grade teacher, the late Mabel Hefty, who he credited with paying special attention to him despite his funny name and sense of isolation after having lived overseas.

Hefty?

She sounds... nice.

I can't spell it. I have autocorrect built in to my web browser. It knows my posting style and is able to adapt to it.

BTW, I agree with you on NV returning to blue. Conservatives are openly against vice (although most caught end up being Republican). NV economy is built on vice. They aren't dumb enough to ship their valuable tourist dollars over a bunch of moralistic assholes

I have no idea why she might be sympathetic to someone with an allegedly funny-sounding name. She must just be a nice person.

Because he's a seekrit muslin commie socialist Marxist who hates America. And he used his magical time machine to collude with the government and newspaper publishers in Hawaii to plant the story of his birth there but real 'Murikans aren't buying none of that.

At least that's what I'm told when I ask conservatives.

Something I've observed lately is that when I ask a Democrat who doesn't like Obama why they don't like him, their answers include actual policy decisions made by his administration. It's almost like they have a grip on reality or something.

FTFA: Obama's campaign simultaneously released a new television ad hitting Romney on teacher reductions and class sizes. The Romney campaign responded that Obama's own education secretary, Arne Duncan, has questioned whether it is wise to focus on reducing class sizes if it means budget cuts to other education programs.

"President Obama is so desperate to hold on to power that he'll even attack policies supported by his own education secretary," Romney spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg said in a statement.

That'd be a great retort if Romney planned to cut teacher salaries and increase class sizes to shore up other education programs, and not to give yet another tax cut to people who clearly don't need it.

Barrack Obama [voiceover] Everyone hides who they are at least some of the time. Sometimes you bury that part of yourself so deeply you have to be reminded it's even there at all. You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know... morons.

Just wait until the Romney camp claims that this speech is an attack against Romney and criticizes Obama for negative campaigning.

Your standard senior class may have a kid or two that turns 18 before 6NOV - someone got held back, or the cutoff for entering a grade is September (not January, like in some districts). It's not that hard to imagine.

Why do you ask? Was the speech at a HS?

Some say that he's a 'socialist;" and that he's worn out over 1,138 audiocassette copies of the album Ride The Lightning through playing them in a radio that, by extreme coincidence, just happens to have two tape decks and the ability to record the music on one deck onto a blank cassette on the other.

All we know is that he's called The Obama!

They screen their audience members beforehand. It's been common practice since W. Can't afford to have someone asking inconvenient questions, now.
