A link to an actual video? Not to some crappy blog with an embedded video? Inconceivable!

Looks a lot nicer than Audacity.

However this is likely $400+.

Or you could just get Logic Pro.

Wait, Sony and popular in the same headline? Damn this Wayback Machine, it's dumped me in the 1980s again!

Buying a cool product doesn't make the company cool. Sonic Foundry made Sound Forge what it is, Sony just owns it.

Avid can suck it

The video doesn't say it was ported. It was reinvented meaning it is different. Most likely they had to dumb it down for the Mac.

Does it come with a complimentary rootkit?

Logic Pro, thanks. I do love how Pro Tools has dropped so much in price but Logic works great and I have no reason to switch.

Cubase, Reason, Logic, Studio One, and Ableton Live are in my stable.

And I sell all of them ('cept Logic) so I'm getting a kick...

LOLforge ?

save your money. It's not really a bad app per se, but most other DAW apps out now can do what it does better, plus a LOT more that it can't.

Call me back when they release Acid Pro for the Mac

And ProTools is floating point now. How cool is that? No digital overload/clipping/bratZZTZG

I tried to watch that, but the fake control that shows up whenever you mouse over it won't farking work with Flashblock.

are they touting that as like a thing? i think most DAW's have done it that way for at least a couple years. i think acid pro started with version 6 when they did their update to support ASIO/VST...like 6(?) years ago.

of course, protools also made a big deal out of finally adding delay compensation for plugins which was also pretty much already in every other package since like 2000..

i guess it's a testament to the power of 'industry standard' status...

fark sony.

fark sony for rootkit, fark sony for atrack, fark sony for mp3 players that use specialized formats, fark sony for blueray, fark sony for beta, fark sony for having to use it's own memory stick version x, fark sony for licensing cheap shiat under it's own name and skating on it's fame after 1996, fark sony for changing it's mind on ps3 support for hacks, fark sony for the way they made their 2d/3d movie projection equipment work, fark sony for bending over to it's entertainment division whenever they do consumer electronics.

Just fark sony.

Enemabag Jones is such a big fan of sony's rootkits that he wants a sony tab on fark. Get on it drew!

How will replace Pro Tools? Sound Forge is a WAV editor. Pro Tools is a DAW

Fark protools, how will this even replace Soundtrack Pro?

2012-08-23 05:19:33 AM
I haven't used any of this software since Sony bought it from Sonic Foundry.

2012-08-23 08:03:12 AM
Does it come with a free rootkit?

2012-08-23 09:37:37 AM
I just need a really REALLY basic sound editor for Mac. I loved SoundEdit II back in the day, and eventually had to replace it with Amadeus for OS X. But now even that doesn't work with 10.8 without a $50 upgrade.

Assuming I don't like using pirated software, are there any good free apps out there for Mac any more?

That they do, if you don't mention their PC's that are overpriced and loaded with crapware.

Reaper is fantastic, but it's actually closer in functionality to Sony's Vegas. Sound Forge is a great, raw wave file editor.
