It's a win-win.

Yeah, that's why the GOP won't even let her speak at the convention. What's their plan, hide her until 2014 and then let her pop out like a trap door spider?

Mentat: Yeah, that's why the GOP won't even let her speak at the convention.

That's because they're scared of undefeated maverick conservative women.

So they're lowering themselves to petty threats. Okay, cool. Give her the launch codes, I'll be just about 40 by then, what do I give a fark?

Since Palin - and she was the first - came to the aid of Doug Hoffman in NY-23 in 2009, there has been a positive division in conservatism, which will grow and mature in our century. She is the natural leader of this new direction.

Didn't Hoffman lose?

I think they were talking about her spirit, in the face of the horrible liberal media dragging her words and her children into the spotlight, as they fought back with reality TV shows and widely distributed books.

2012-08-22 04:31:17 PM
Like the GOP will still exist in 2016.

2012-08-22 04:36:35 PM
If not her, someone like her, sure.

Remember what happened in 2009 after Obama won? In case you missed it, the right was so angry that they started THE TEA PARTY. If he wins again, they're going to be even MORE pissed off, especially since every conservative group associated with the Tea Party thought Romney was the weakest and least conservative choice. They're going to veer even harder to the right, and the GOP will be in serious trouble if they can't reel them in. Which they probably won't.

2012-08-22 04:40:29 PM
I just realized something.... not counting Pawlenty and Huntsman, since they were doomed from the start, if Romney was NOT in the race this year, right now Obama would be facing off against Gingrich or Santorum or Bachmann or Perry. Isn't that INSANE? And if Romney loses, I don't think he'll be anywhere near the race in 2016. Although I'm guessing there will be slightly saner choices like Christie.

But who are we kidding? The next nominee will probably be Ryan.

2012-08-22 04:40:43 PM
In time we will see current economic liberalism disappear entirely. It lost its essential economic purpose when large-scale manufacturing left America and America became a place of smaller businesses. It left Democrats with only the most ephemeral lifestyle and cultural issues.

and ever since women got the right to vote, libs haven't had any social purpose. that's how politics works.

Even if Romney wins this year Palin will be the frontrunner GOP candidate in 2016. The teabaggers are not happy with Romney, and it won't take long before they decide they need one of their own

Obviously, they should have chosen former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as their lead speaker.

It doesn't matter how much some Republicans would want her to run, or even how much she herself would like to be President.

She's not willing to put in the work required to have a fighting chance.

I'll just stop you there. How could she do that? I know you don't mean specific policies, but she doesn't want to end foreign wars, which is a big selling point for Paulites, and she knows literally zero about the Fed or monetary policy. She'd never have that rabid base that *really* thinks she could/should be President.... she would just have the regular conservative base behind her, and once she starts flapping around out there she tarnishes that image, exposes her bluff that she actually knows anything. Her best bet is staying low,, writing books, appearing on TV, attacking those mean Democrats, etc.

And not only did he lose, but he was the first Republican to lose that district sine nearly the Civil War.

I once ran a Democratic candidate in that district while McHugh was still the incumbent. It was brutal. The amount of dumbassery it took Hoffman to lose that election is incredible.

It's (mostly) ratcheting, too. This will reach a fevered pitch in early November, die down around mid-December, and then ramp up quickly in January.

All things considered, Nixon wasn't that bad of a president. Sure, he hated the commies and didn't trust young people, but he wasn't an idiot.

Hillary would gut her like a trout. There would be blood everywhere! I felt bad for Biden, having to be nice to her in order to not come across as a sexist. But Hillary wouldn't have that problem. Of course the Republicans would then attack Hillary for picking on a retard, but that's their problem.

Is the GOP really so bankrupt that Palin is their great hope for the future? Are there no honest Republicans left to be outraged at the sorry state of their party?

I fear for the future as the GOP seems like they are at the same point of a doomsday cult when that cult knows there's no ending other than going to prison or going out in a blaze of glory (and so many are seemingly okay with the GOP driving the nation off a cliff).

So does that mean Michelle Bachmann is Peppermint Patty?

Hey, it deserves more serious consideration than this ridiculous hypothetical. Sarah Palin has about as much chance at the White House as any cast member of The Real World. No talent reality show star that makes a living saying stupid things in front of a camera.

Bingo.

The GOP has been actively courting the crazies since Nixon. The way I see it, they were more or less kept in check until the '08 election; the GOP was prepared for a fight against Hillary. They didn't imagine that a black man named Barack Hussein Obama would even win the Democratic primary, let alone the Presidency. It caught them off guard, and they panicked, throwing the mic in the looney bin to try and derail things; the Tea Party, Sarah Palin, the birther movement...All of these empowered the Republican fringe, and they've now taken the reins.
