To be fair, autoerotic activities aren't legitimate rape.

What if your hand was possessed by the debil? I mean, it would be your hand, but the debil made you do it. Since you wouldn't get pregnant, would that be legitimate?

Excellent question for which I have no answer.

It's sickening how many people in this country hold these views. I just don't get it. Well no, I do get it. Fundamentalist Christianity + fear of education + fear of being thought of as "elitist" = holding backwards, farktarded views.

I'd never even heard of this crap before the Akin gaffe. Now these people are coming out of the woodwork. It's really batty.

make me some tea: I'd never even heard of this crap before the Akin gaffe

Had a priest that taught in my Catholic school (around 1990). I remember him once saying something about how it's difficult for a woman to get pregnant from rape, because of the trauma. Part of God's plan or something...

Now that I think about it, he also had some literature about the liberal media's bias against the Catholic church, and it had some strange antisemitic undertones.

While he was quick to condemn Akin's "inexcusable and stupid and ignorant" remarks, Feit reported that their views on abortion were fundamentally identical.

The whole varying degrees of rape thing and not getting pregnant by rape thing are both insanely uninformed and moronic. However, this guy doesn't seem to agree with that stuff. He apparently agrees that there should be no abortion exception in cases of rape. I'm pro-choice, so I don't have to try to parse this shiat out to be consistent. Abortion should be legal, so no exception need be made. But I would say that any pro-lifer that would allow for exceptions for rape and incest is inconsistent. If life does indeed begin at conception, the GOP platform is at least consistent.

There was a bill declaring "legitimate rape" would not result in pregnancy?

If you legitimately Go Fark Yourself and become literally pregnant, can you still get an abortion?

I have literally and legitimately farked myself a few times, but my spastic tubes came to the rescue.

If you call, Akin completely retracted that statement. He's now effectively being attacked for having a position similar to Ryan and other social Conservatives.

Well, true. However, this is really a religious determination, since an egg cell and a sperm cell are by most definitions "alive" (as are, for that matters, pigs and cows) so what really makes the difference between the state of "alive" we happily allow mass killings of (i.e. slaughterhouses, porn) and those we don't (ie "people") is the concept of a soul. Essentially, the idea is that at the moment of conception, a soul is created, and that is why killing the zygote at this stage is considered murder.

So, therefore, to be COMPLETELY consistent to their beliefs, their religious practices should include baptism of the woman's womb after every potentially procreative sex act, less they consign millions of souls to the hell of the unbaptized.

As it is, the Bible actually uses the date of 1 month after birth as the determination of when an infant seems to achieve "personhood", which, of course, eliminates a lot of unnecessary damnation.

It's new to me too. I was shocked when I read an article yesterday citing sources from the '80's and '90's echoing Akin's position. How could people spread this crap for 20 years and not be identified as morons?

BTW -- it a gaffe if he said what he meant to say.
