Funny headline, sad story.

The wrongful lawsuit filed Tuesday in Orange County Circuit Court seeks more than $27 million in damages. Ashton Jojo of Latham, N.Y., was electrocuted June 27 while retrieving a ball from a pond.

So many reactions:
F*ck that sucks...
I wasn't aware Ashton was a girl's name.
With the last name "Jojo" the child's first name should be "Mojo"
Why did she go into the pond to retrieve the ball? Why did her parents let her go into the pond to retrieve the ball? I've worked at a mini-golf place. Everything is f*cking filthy to touch. Don't do it.

Ashton Jojo of Latham, N.Y. let out a scream after reaching into a small, two-foot-deep concrete pond at the Orange Lake Resort near Orlando to retrieve her golf ball on June 27....

Another person staying at the Orange Lake Resort rushed to help Ashton but was also injured in their attempt to save the girl who later died at hospital.

Wrongful lawsuit? What's so wrongful about it?

Jojo was a man who thought he was a loner.

FTA: He said someone needs to be held accountable for the Jojo family losing their only daughter.

While they may have a legitimate case here, this very concept is being overused and ruining the US justice system.

I stubbed me toe. Some one must pay for this!
I spilled my coffee. Some one must...

The problem is that putt putt golf doesn't have enough regulations.

If you hit your ball in the water on a putt putt hole, just let it go, man.

I think it's disproportionally applied. Companies kill people all the time with neglagence (things like Deep Water Horizon) and no one is held to account for it. It's just "eh we'll pay some money and and pass the cost on to consumers" I don't think holding someone accountable should mean financially though. I'd much rather see people in jail for this than drug charges.

Tourists!

Nobody who actually lives here would have went after that ball.

The family is due a payday, no doubt, but his amount is excessive unless outright criminal negligence is proven.
