Scale it up, slap some wheels on it, and add some crash bars and you're not too far off.

Dumb-Ass-Monkey: Should be a fun evening of racing

Yep, I appreciate the reminder. I miss too many of the truck races as it is and they are usually entertaining as hell.

I'm really looking forward to the modifieds.

I tried to get everything done at work yesterday so I could dick around and watch racing today.

Here's to hoping that the re-pave brings back high-speed bumper cars.

Who will Bodine blame for wrecking him tonight.

Cup news...

Bob Pockrass @bobpockrass
Slugger Labbe suspended 6 weeks to Oct. 3 as well as car chief Craig Smokstad. Paul Menard penalized 25 pts - intentionally modifying frame.

Yikes! I guess only having one top ten finish all year will make you take chances.

I saw the Modified guys at Limerock a couple times. This was back when they were supporting the Busch North series a lot.

It was a little odd watching them slam on the brakes going into one.

Lime Rock seems to be the WORST place to run a mod...it's all right turns (except turn 2), and the entire point of the car is to go _left_. Would love to see it though.

I'm missing that one. I've gotta get my DVR fixed. I think the tour blew it up.

Tom Danielson has the summit of Independance Pass, and separated from Francisco Colorado. Leading by 2:15 from the peleton

Sweet. Thanks.
I hope NBC Sports has a rerun tonight. Between the stock cars and the bicycling on TV, I'm going to drive Mrs Crotchgrabber ape shiat.

Weird, I would think that the leader would have an advantage over the pack on the downhill but they're catching him. (the leader can take any line in the corners and doesn't have to worry about running into someone) Like they caught the leaders on the downhill portion on Monday.

/it's been raining here for about an hour or more, but I guess it's not going to rain on the race in Aspen.

You ever been in a good sized peleton? The weirdest feeling in the world is slipping into a draft on a bike.

BTW... Sorry for the thread jack everyone. This was a rather early green for todays races, and we'll be back to dog pictures and motorized race talk soon enough, I promise!

No I never experienced the aerodynamics of the peloton personally. But I guess we've all seen it in motorized racing. And today I witnessed a group of cyclists catch a leader on the downhill. And then they made almost the rest on the fairly flat lead in to the final sprint. It's still surprising to me that the peloton can make up so much ground on the downhill when the leader and the leader of the pack are both pushing to the max. (I guess it's down to tactics at the head of the peloton)
/sorry about the thread-jack also, see you in Bristol (racing is racing, right?)

While we're in a lull, below is the link to what I was doint last week while you were all watching Michigan. Come for the 62-67 Shelby Cobras, stay for the 74-90 cup cars.

Ahh... The hooters car. There has never been a finer paint scheme since.

I love all the old sponsors.

Beer, beer, oil, beer, place serves beer, tobacco, jeans, tobacco, OEM car parts, tobacco, gas, beer, TIDE.

Sponsors had demographics of NASCAR fans pegged to an absolute T back then.

/Brings back childhood memories.

I'd love to watch, if I could find a feed.

just me I guess.

Wife said the cars look like hot wheels cars.

I laughed. She's right of course.

Indeed. Real short track racing after the checkered flag when the second place guy showed his displeasure.

Yup, and rightly so. 2 slowed down as he should have. Too bad we don't get to see more of these.

Head out to your local NASCAR feeder track. Happens about once every three weeks.

/usually followed by interesting events in the pits.

I'd love to get out to the feeder track. But my "local" track is a bit of a drive. Sigh... Guess I'll have to stick with Seca.

Trucks soonish?

Looks like they're doing driver intros so probably 20 minutes. If ya got one, finish your beverage and grab another.

Still at work. A beverage would be helpful.
The Mrs got the DVR to work... alledgedly.

Fire alarm went off, so I missed the Mods race live. I FF'd through the yellows/reds on DVR, and it looked like they had to fix both the SAFER and the track surface?

I missed the first half due to being stuck in traffic. Yeah they had to put some foam blocks back in the wall and it looks like they inspected a spot where the track had been ground down but I don't think they patched anything.

Hear hear.

Just read a piece about Brad Kesolowski's comments about Hendricks cars playing with the way the cars yaw side to side in the corners. I thought I've seen some of those cars look absolutely sideways coming off corners but still drive away from everyone.

Legitimate gripe or tactical mental warfare?

Speed TV are usually good people when it comes to race coverage.
