In other news there are still gay bathhouses. I thought they were a 70's thing that went away in the early 80's with the start of AIDS.

From my understanding, there were a lot more of them before the AIDS crisis. Most of them closed after that, with a few stragglers here and there. They are very, very slowly making a come-back.

I could be wrong. I was a bit young and not involved in gay life back when AIDS first showed up.

Google tells us that the above bathhouse is riiiight around the corner from GOProud's Homocon 2012 on the same block. How convenient!

That is freaking hilarious.

I know there is one here in Orlando...only because I've lived here for a while and have heard of it over time....Not that I've ever been there. I'm not Republican or anything if that's what you think.

Everyone has to make money. I would imagine gay escorts are flocking from all over to take advantage of the convention.

PH isn't a bath house? I knew it was something like a club, but I also though it had a bath house compartment. *shrug*

The bath houses near the GOP convention are also extremely Handicap friendly, since they were all built to accommodate even the widest stance.

I like the Russian Baths in New York City.  I guess the closest thing I've come to a homosexual encounter there was having a fat Russian dude beat me with a branch of oak leaves.  Then I got a massage from a woman who looked like she could have swam for East Germany in the 70s.  She definately had more testosterone flowing through her body than I will ever have.  I made the mistake of telling her I enjoyed deep tissue massage and she proceeded to nearly break every bone in my body.

It was not erotically charged.

That is my bathhouse story.

You can get a deep tissue massage at a gay bath house too, by the way.

The only gay "bathhouse" I've been to was in DC, it was more like a gym, but it was full of old, fat white men.

So, exactly like the GOP convention.

I visited Steamworks in Chicago. One of their many floors was a gym. Even had some dudes working out in it.

Parliament House in Orlando is a bath house? I know it has a reputation for being a gay hangout but the few times I drove past it, it looked like a motel.

Whenever some figure is outed in a gay sex scandal, odds are they're a Republican who was railing against teh debbil homogays just minutes before they were railing the anus of a debbil homogay.

Yea, that's a pretty big one in Orlando, gay friends of mine always talk about it and if you know of you, you hear people mention it from time to time as "P house" in conversations, like they're talking on the down low...

Ex-GF loved going there, always tried to get me to go but I told her really not interested.

/all down with gay rights, just not my cup of tea

Kangaroo_Ralph: Yeah... I still don't get this recurring joke on Fark. Is it funny to insinuate that certain groups of people are gay now?

Here's the funny: This joke works because it calls upon the stark dichotomy between the stated position against homosexuality and homosexual rights in the Republican Party, particularly by the Evangelical, Fundamentalist Christian vein, and the reality that there are closeted homosexuals in the party, even in high ranking elected positions. The joke makes no implication that there's any inherent humor or fault in homosexuality itself. It simply rests on the hypocrisy of so many of the very vocal members of the GOP and the idea that they're all secretly champing at the bit to get into some HOT*HOT*HOT*FORBIDDEN*MANLOVE.

Conservative Republicans do for closeted gay men what Jonestown did for powdered kids drinks.
