Dusk-You-n-Me: And so I happen to believe you can be pro women and pro life.

"I think you can be pro-women and pro-life, I just also think that it's the job of the government to be involved in decisions that women make with their doctors if I think it's going to be a decision my religion disagrees with.

While I'm on the subject, can you believe how Democrats want the government to be involved in decisions made between people and their doctors?!?! Isn't that an outrage? We NEED to repeal Obamacare!"

Pro-choice for me is a pragmatic stance. Abortions are going to happen, you can't stop that. What you can do is try to prevent unwanted pregnancies with available contraceptives and education. You can also make sure that babies and mothers are well taken care of (available health care and day care), and stop demonizing. When these measures fail, make sure the actual procedure is done safely, and in a clean environment. The sad part is the people who are so vehemently opposed to abortion are also opposed to contraceptives, to WIC, medicaid, ACA, and anything else that would make the woman less likely to want an abortion,

Nina_Hartley's_Ass: but he does agree that women lie to get abortions.

Actually, right now they're betting that women will lie to get abortions when they restrict abortion to rape, incest or the life of the mother. As it is ,women don't need to give a reason for their choice. They're looking ahead to a day when women will have no choice but to lie. This is why I don't like to see pro choice people defend abortion based on the woman's circumstance, it's none of their damned business why the choice was made.

PRIEBUS: Right, but, Erin, I think you're making a false assumption here. And that is that you're making the assumption that women are pro-abortion. And I don't believe that. I actually think that most women are pro life. And so I happen to believe you can be pro women and pro life.

This goes, in my opinion, to the crux of most (I did say most) social conservatives' thinking. That is, if you are pro-choice, then you are pro-abortion. Pro-choice means women should have a CHOICE; it does not mean that people who are pro-choice go out and have abortions every time. I think it's safe to say that a significant number of pro-choice people have gone on to have children.

Republicans are going to nominate the most un-electable nominee is years. They are legislating women 's vaginae to get fundy votes. Then they let the crazy fringe into congress.
