Bringing up past voting history is a slanderous attack that the Republican party Will Not Stand For.

Neither Romney or Ryan can run on their records.

One is a more 'blue' blue, while the other is a blue 'blue'.

Nothing like a party's platform to actually be exposed to the light of day and have imbeciles try to justify their bullshiat.

PRIEBUS: Right, but, Erin, I think you're making a false assumption here. And that is that you're making the assumption that women are pro-abortion. And I don't believe that. I actually think that most women are pro life. And so I happen to believe you can be pro women and pro life.

You happen to be wrong.

Guys, this is just silly. This whole "Ryan's views are identical to Akin's" nonsense you bring up with legal documentation is just comparing Michigan apples to Red Delicious apples.

There's absolutely no commonality between them. Another liberal hate party.

So, as a Cheesehead*, can I personally apologize to the rest of the country for hoisting Preebius, Ryan, Walker and Sensenbrenner** on y'all?

Republicans are going to nominate the most un-electable nominee is years. They are legislating women 's vaginae to get fundy votes. Then they let the crazy fringe into congress.

How do they not see crap like this coming.

This election, the undecideds don't matter. What will decide the election is turnout.

The tax returns stuff will keep Republicans at home, while this forcble-rape crap will get the Democrats to show up at the polls. I think Obama's strategy will work.

This goes, in my opinion, to the crux of most (I did say most) social conservatives' thinking. That is, if you are pro-choice, then you are pro-abortion. Pro-choice means women should have a CHOICE; it does not mean that people who are pro-choice go out and have abortions every time. I think it's safe to say that a significant number of pro-choice people have gone on to have children.

The latter claim will be true, I think. But not the former. I think Republicans are less easily dissuaded from voting than Democrats are.

Even if they manage to somehow shield Ryan, every GOP member of the house supports redefining rape, as they've all voted for it. The Democrats are in a target rich environment now.

That's hilarious...

Man, the GOP is so angry that idiot, Akin, actually said what most of these regressive morons believe.

Hey Rince, or whatever the hell your name is... Ryan cosponsored legislation with identical wording to what Akin said. The GOP is about to adopt making a constitutional amendment outlawing abortion with no exceptions for rape as part of its platform.

Do you not keep up with the party you represent or do you just think every American is as ignorant and uninformed as the GOP base?

I don't think Ryan shares the reassuring fantasy that they won't force women to bear their rapists' children but he does agree that women lie to get abortions.

I want to know what Romney has to say about Dr. Willke.

Actually, right now they're betting that women will lie to get abortions when they restrict abortion to rape, incest or the life of the mother. As it is ,women don't need to give a reason for their choice. They're looking ahead to a day when women will have no choice but to lie. This is why I don't like to see pro choice people defend abortion based on the woman's circumstance, it's none of their damned business why the choice was made.

Pro-choice for me is a pragmatic stance. Abortions are going to happen, you can't stop that. What you can do is try to prevent unwanted pregnancies with available contraceptives and education. You can also make sure that babies and mothers are well taken care of (available health care and day care), and stop demonizing. When these measures fail, make sure the actual procedure is done safely, and in a clean environment. The sad part is the people who are so vehemently opposed to abortion are also opposed to contraceptives, to WIC, medicaid, ACA, and anything else that would make the woman less likely to want an abortion,

Ryan reminds me of a kid who comes up to his parents (GOP overlords) and is like, 'hey guys, you all know I workout a lot and have an Ayn Rand complex' (GOP overlords are impressed, nice resume, nice retarded philosophy, also this says you've been around the block here in Congress) 'hey guys, i got this idea I've been working on for months now to reduce the deficit, it's a total package even though it does nothing to actually reduce the deficit.'

The GOP overlords look at his plan and say, 'Well we didn't read it but we believe you, so I'll give you all the votes in Congress for it so it passes the House' and then it gets publicized and rejected and then Ryan repackages the same farking plan and it gets publicized and rejected.

Eventually Obama looks at it and says 'well this is a total package Paul, but it doesn't address the deficit and it says here you want to cut taxes to pay for it which is completely retarded so...nice try kid'.

Then the right-wing press and blogosphere goes batshiat insane 'OMAGERD OBAMA DOESNT WANT TO CUT THE DEFICIT HE'S JUST SO BLACK AND...I MEAN HE'S JUST SUCH A SOCIALIST AND THE RYAN PLAN IS SO GOOD THAT...' and now Paul Ryan is an up and coming player on the Congressional stage and then Romney can't find anyone to run with him and picks Ryan.

Lest we forget that Ryan is an anti-abortion nutjob whose economic philosophy is 'fark you I get mine' and well, I think that's all you need to know about his politics. He's as mentally stunted as the rest of the GOP.

That's a good point. Additionally, it's like they assume women wouldn't try to get one anyway. That is what happens currently in countries that have outlawed abortions, and many women do die doing it.

And this is why there does exist a "right to privacy" in the Constitution. Not in those words, but WTF else do the 4th and 5th Amendments mean if not "citizens have the general right to privacy, which may only be abridged in these specific ways, warrants issued on probable cause, fair trials, yadda yadda"?

Which extends to abortion because a) SCOTUS says it's a legal procedure and 2) HIPAA says that government can't ask what's in my medical records without a court order. And I would love for the "no government between me and my doctor" folks to start continue to be oblivious to their doublethink while putting more and more barriers between a woman and her doctor.

I think there are a lot more pro-life women than you might think in the middle of the country, even if it's not the vast majority. I can't find a gender breakdown of the new polls but I'm sure Akin's still getting plenty of support from women.

Being able to trot out Jane Roe and have her say "I regret having an abortion" is a very powerful tool.

The point isn't that pro-life women do or do not exist in greater numbers, the point is that you can't be pro-woman and pro-life.

While I'm on the subject, can you believe how Democrats want the government to be involved in decisions made between people and their doctors?!?! Isn't that an outrage? We NEED to repeal Obamacare!"
