Actually,right now they're betting that women will lie to get abortions when they restrict abortion to rape,incest or the life of the mother. Which extends to abortion because a) SCOTUS says it's a legal procedure and 2) HIPAA says that government can't ask what's in my medical records without a court order. mr bad example: Pro-choice for me is a pragmatic stance. Abortions are going to happen, you can't stop that. What you can do is try to prevent unwanted pregnancies with available contraceptives and education. You can also make sure that babies and mothers are well taken care of (available health care and day care), and stop demonizing. When these measures fail, make sure the actual procedure is done safely, and in a clean environment. The sad part is the people who are so vehemently opposed to abortion are also opposed to contraceptives, to WIC, medicaid, ACA, and anything else that would make the woman less likely to want an abortion,

ArkPanda: I think there are a lot more pro-life women than you might think in the middle of the country, even if it's not the vast majority. I can't find a gender breakdown of the new polls but I'm sure Akin's still getting plenty of support from women.

Being able to trot out Jane Roe and have her say "I regret having an abortion" is a very powerful tool.

The point isn't that pro-life women do or do not exist in greater numbers, the point is that you can't be pro-woman and pro-life.
