Harry_Seldon: erstwhileplanet: It's great to get Kirk Cameron's perspective on this, but I never really make up my mind until Ricky Schroder weighs in on an issue.

He prefers to be called "Rick."

He at least went on to be a decent actor and not use religion as an attention whore surrogate

/not flamin, just sayin

wellreadneck: Even though there's no chance he'll sleep with me, I"ll have to say that Kirk Cameron doesn't have an ugly mug. Not an attractive personality, but otherwise, a decent looking man.

He is cute and he has held up well as he has grown older. I will easily give him that. But gay? No. Would I fark him if I had a chance? Yes.

MaudlinMutantMollusk: And we should give a rat's ass what Kirk Cameron thinks... why?

Because he's a true capitalist who is very wealthy. And very wealthy people should be listened to because they are super intelligent. But only when they vote Republican.

I know this isn't the politics tab, but I'm forced to say it.

The country's in Full Derp Mode. Seeing Akin doubling down, the GOP forging a document to essentially reverse Roe vs. Wade....

When the hell did we all get so retarded? The 21st Century promised us awesome, and we're punching ourselves in the collective crotch so hard we're opening a gateway to the new Dark Ages.

I'm not looking for answers here.... I never thought I'd hit the wall, but this thread just did it.

You kill millions of unborn babies who would have liberal parents who believe in abortion, that's millions of Democrat voters who will never exist. It's no surprise that we Conservative Americans now have the numbers to undo the damage you have done. Like Jesus said, you shall reap what you show.

Doubling Down on Stupid: Following that up with "It's not just the dress, you look fat in everything"

Perfectly stated!

Among the ignorant creationist, religious freakazoid Born Again assholes, Kirk has got to be one of the worst. He is such a goddamn sanctimonious, self righteous, ignorant twat.

I think the correct word used by Jesus was 'sow', not 'show'. And I'm not religious.

However, that just killed off the last fark I gave.

A female friend of mine is getting married soon, and this weekend I am taking her to a very high end couture lingerie boutique.

Of course, there are always those awkward few moments when the female clientele/staff freeze up when they see a large, hairy, tattooed bald guy come in their store.

While Jamie Luner no doubt accelerated more than her share of puberties, Kirk also got Julie McCullough kicked off Growing Pains, so yeah no way that's even.

0Icky0: Mrtraveler01: So the GOP establishment = Liberal elite?

I love how "elite" is a bad word to these trogs.
They seem to be OK with elites on their sports teams or those who drive in circles for NASCAR. But man, don't want no elites in government.

Government elites like SEALs are OK, though.

Listen to Kirk, Huckabee, and the Family Research Council, Republicans! This is the way to win this November and every November hereafter! The majority of the voting public loves the inference that women secretly enjoy rape and that we should be relegated to a status of broodmare with fewer rights than a clump of cells growing within us.

It's the culmination of a bunch of interrelated social and political movements that have their roots going back as far as the Great Awakening (and hell, probably to the pilgrims). But in the modern era, in the sixties the conservatives were terrified by hippies, because they didn't abide by a strict, moral code. They were a threat to the perceived order of things. So in the seventies, the Christian right started to organize into the machine we know today, but they didn't have nearly as much power.

Then Reagan came along, giving a pandering voice to all of the Christian right's deepest desires. He tried to bring back school prayer. He met with all of the evangelical leaders and made sure they understood how deeply committed to pro-life he was, and all that jazz. He also lowered taxes greatly in his first year or two. This is important for one reason: it drew in the Prosperity Doctrine Christians that, while they agreed in principal with the evangelicals, all they really wanted was tax cuts and to reinforce their just world philosophy. So Reagan managed to unite nearly all of the hardcore Protestants around a singular ideology that became the same over time.

After H.W Bush broke his no new taxes pledge, and the government shut down over Clinton, the religious right backed George W. Bush. We were attacked by Muslims, and we needed to rally around our Christian president. However in retrospect W.'s presidency was a clusterfark that laid bare how little the Republican establishment cared about the religious right. Then the election of a black man sent them into histrionics, and we have the present we know and love today.

Mucho thanks shower_in_my_socks, Solid Muldoon and Bashar and Asma's Infinite Playlist. I know that I'm going to wake up with one hell of a hangover and the problems will still be here, but tonight this thread, and the derp from the derping has seriously driven me over the edge.

May sanity prevail. We did get the Mars Rover(s), advances with organ scaffolding thanks to the rest of the world embracing stem cells, and we still have a chance of moving away from idiocy.

Holy balls, it can't come soon enough. (Raises glass of Goslings)

I think he actually believes he is right, so save your money for the new Dinosaur Jr. album.

And his constituents will elect him because they hate McCaskill, which is no different than the reason the people that support McCaskill will vote for her because they hate Akin. Pretty much everyone at this point has made up their mind and as long as the right scream "LIBERAL" in any shape or form, they will continue to put thier hand in the cookie jar, grab what money they can and then scream about anyone else with their hand in there.

By the way, the reason he doesn't get real acting work anymore isn't because he's conservative (like Kelsey Grammer) or deeply Christian (like Kristen Chenoweth), but because as soon as he became born-again, he started having people fired for not living up to his standards.

And no matter how hardcore you are in your beliefs, as soon as you start farking with people's paychecks, you're going to have trouble.
