mauricecano: They really shouldn't have actually stated a reason why the shoe cost so much or using materials as the reason. Cotton is sitting at 72.66 cents per ounce current Link. Lets assume it cost a pound of cotton to make one shoe through refinement, so 16 ounces. If that assumption is correct, which I think is high, it cost them maybe 11.62 per shoe in cotton. The fun aspect of that is Cotton is actually way down to where it was, over $1/oz last year and earlier this year.
Silly Jesus: Here's a much better article. Jesus, subby, could you have possibly found a worse one?The high price likely has more to do with the "motion sensing technology to tell players how high they jump" than it does with the farking price of cotton.
Holy crap! Read the comments!!
josetoyou • an hour ago • parentThe black man is keeping himself down in most cases. There are two types of black people. There are the respectable folks who are, law abiding, educated, employed and who have legitimate children. This group is called Negros, but they seem to be few and far between. And then, there is the majority of black folks who suck of the welfare system for generations, breed illegitimate children like rabbits, participate in flash mobs, steal, rape, are gang members, own illegal weapons, fight to buy expensive things they can't afford, are very racist, and live in a dump.....these are the *iggers.I don't have a problem with either word, because both are descriptive of character or lack thereof.I am not a racist! There is a list of black people that I truly admire, and I supported Herman Cain.
ZzeusS: whipped publicly
MightyPez: If I paid $300 for shoes I would have to eat them.A friend turned me on to skater shoes several years ago (Adio brand, to be exact). I don't skate, but damn are they like walking on baby ducks.
Buttle not Tuttle: "Cotton prices" is the new euphemism for "because we know someone will actually drop $300 for something they know is all mark up."
Skraeling: MightyPez: If I paid $300 for shoes I would have to eat them.A friend turned me on to skater shoes several years ago (Adio brand, to be exact). I don't skate, but damn are they like walking on baby ducks.loud and crap on you when you step on them?
Coming on a Bicycle: Between the price of airtravel, the cost vs. the quality of movies, some of the clothes I wear; I think sometimes this is a truly post-materialistic world in which the price of something has nothing to do with its cost anymore.
Silly Jesus: [counterkicks.com image 600x428]Here are the sensors that go along with iPhone apps. They measure jumping height, among other things. I'll just assume that I can only jump 12 inches and save myself $300.
justinguarini4ever: Nike will no doubt release these in all of the gang colors. Black and red, black and blue, black and gold, black and purple. Such a responsible company. But then again, they have made most of their money exploiting black people.
Big_Fat_Liar: What is really depressing is seeing adults wearing these. I'm not talking about 20 or 30 year old adults, but "men" in their 40s or 50s wearing bright colored expensive kids shoes, a shoe-brand T-shirt, and a baseball cap...to work. WTF is that? Do they get together and play jacks after work? Maybe some hop scotch and then ride their BMX bikes over to the park?
Nina Haagen Dazs: Nikes are garbage. I'm wearing my fourth pair in the last 25 years and not one of them lasted more than three months. Damn soles peeled back on every one of them. Even though I got a deal and bought these against my better judgement...I shouldv'e spent the extra 15 bucks and got something decent.
