Oh, you mean like saying that Romney hasn't paid any taxes in the last twelve years or that he's going to put "ya'll back in chains"?

2012-08-21 07:29:05 AM
sure they can. it's all they got. and the media doesn't call them out on it.

Factual accuracy isn't your strong suit, is it? Reid said that he was told Romney paid zero for ten years. And Romney huffs and puffs and declines to do the one thing that would settle the debate once and for all. Unfortunately for Romney, he can't file amended returns that far back.

But hey, if it makes you feel better to equate obvious hyperbole from Biden to outright false statements funded by the Romney campaign and repeated long after they have been disproven, then sure, both sides are the same so vote Republican.

"You're not allowed to hit back! You're supposed to be the bigger person and remain above the fray!"

Ask John Kerry how well that worked out. Glad to see Dems growing some stones.

Indeed. Obama was so wrong.

...they only want to put women back in chains.

2012-08-21 08:25:39 AM
Can we now agree that he is just a little dumb for only realizing now that, yes, they can?

2012-08-21 08:36:09 AM
Yep, he's completely wrong on this. There are no longer consequences for just making shiat up from whole cloth.

"It seems that the first victim of an Obama campaign is the truth, and it has been sad and disappointing," Romney said.

Since everything Romney's campaign has said since it started has been a lie so I guess we can now rest assured that Obama is telling the truth.

/It's like one of those logic problems.
//A really easy one.

"It seems that the first victim of an Obama campaign is the truth, and it has been sad and disappointing," Romney said.

Saying the ad "obviously got underneath (the Democrats') skin," the former Massachusetts governor maintained his team edited the ad intentionally to show "what's sauce for the goose is now sauce for the gander."

We all know that Romney gave his ex employee's wife cancer too.

He didn't give her cancer, silly. He just denied her an opportunity to seek medical attention to potentially treat her cancer, and it killed her. Big difference.

there remains the possibility that the GOP isn't actually lying and really DOES believe that a woman cannot get pregnant after being raped.

I'm on EnviroDude's side on this. I don't think the Mormons are against medical science. I think that's the Born Again Christians.

No, that doesn't happen until you get to the receptionists desk and she finds out that you don't have insurance or cash. Corporate raiders don't have to do that sort of thing personally.

it's been a rough week for our GOP friends. they've had to defend Romney's attempts to hide his tax returns while at the same time accusing Obama of not being honest with his background. Now they've had to defend rape. If I were them, I'd be feeling a bit frazzled as well.

Not true. If they moved to Massachusetts, they would have had insurance with Massachusetts's universal health care law - which Obamacare was designed from.

I don't see anyone defending rape. Hell the guy got uninvited to the convention! What more do you want? Him to step down for putting his foot in his mouth?

I'd love to set that precedent! Washington would be cleaned out in a month! We would only have had to suffer though maybe 48 to 72 hours of President Obama, Biden wouldn't have lasted that long. Only one problem, we would be swearing in the Secretary of Education as President right now.

Actually come to think of it, that would be kind of cool

Joe Biden was absolutely farking right with that comment, which is why you guys are hitting it so hard. Wall Street's MO for the last 30 years has been to coerce the public into taking on greater and greater amounts of debt which can be repackaged into securities they can sell to investors. They don't care if you're in debt for the rest of your life (metaphorically in chains, if you will) so long as those sweet sweet interest payments keep coming in.

The funniest thing is that his wording is from the Romney/Ryan campaign. They were beating the drum for weeks about how we need to "unshackle" corporations from Obama's magical supertaxes, and Biden basically said that unshackling the corporations will shackle the middle class. Suddenly, OMG RACE BAITING.

"I don't think that Gov. Romney is somehow responsible for the death of the woman that was portrayed in that ad. But keep in mind: this is an ad that I didn't approve, I did not produce, and, as far as I can tell, has barely run -- I think it ran once," Obama said.

Translation: SuperPACS. You wanted them unchained, you got it. Suck on it.

But the president also challenged Romney's own advertising on welfare, which assert that Obama had "gutted" the centerpiece of the 1995 welfare reform law, which tied benefits to seeking work.

"You've got Gov. Romney creating as a centerpiece of his campaign this notion that we're taking [the] work requirement out of welfare, which every single person here who's looked at it says is patently false," Obama said. "They can run the campaign that they want, but the truth of the matter is, you can't just make stuff up."

Translation: Thank you, Mitt for making welfare, a noted Democratic strong suit, a part of this campaign.

Keep lecturing us on lying, Mitch.

Also I had to laugh at "He wants to steal from medicare to fund entitlement spending!" You know how many people that's going to a) make sense to un-ironically, and b) are going to get outraged by it? A frighteningly large amount, that's what.
