Don't kid yourself Jimmy. If the Babe ever got the chance, he'd eat you and everyone you care about!

The Red Sox are 7 games out of a wild card spot. I almost want to see them come back just to shut everyone up.

Yeah, it's a disappointing year, but 59-63 isn't awful. It's mediocre.

If only they could fire the 25 guys actually playing on the roster.

/If ya didn't want Bobby V, you shouldn't have choked away the playoffs last year!

THIS.

I am a lifelong Red Sox fan, but these guys aren't loveable losers. They're just losers.

/And unlikeable.
//They lost me for good for 2012 when they traded Youks for a bag of batting practice balls and a used home plate.

This should solve everything.

I guess the old backup catcher wasn't a good enough fall guy.

What the heck can a 60 year old pitching coach contribute to a pro baseball team? Oh yeah, official scapegoat.

Management has really doubled-down on their dedication to Valentine with this move. McClure was in the organization before Valentine was, and Lucchino forced Valentine to keep him on-- though as a compromise he allowed him to also bring in Neimann as an assistant. Just a few months ago (I think it was right before the all-star break) they told Valentine that Neimann would no longer be allowed in the dugout during games (yes, both pitching coaches were there for the first couple months.) Now suddenly they're scapegoating their guy and letting Valentine use his people. What a clusterfark.

You may remember me from such Red Sox seasons as "59 Minus 63 Equals Negative Fun!"

Bummer you know just as soon as the sox get mathematically eliminated they will be unbeatable

I'm okay with most of the regular hitters, save for Crawford. I think Papi is increasingly out of place here, sadly. But, to be honest, I hate most of the pitchers, with the possible exception of Buchholz. I think Lester could be saved if the king pariah would've been left in the middle of Harlem late Sunday night a la John McLean in Die Hard III. Pretty sure he's the key here. I can deal with Papi staying on, but they need to buy out that goddamned waste of space that is Beckett.

\also, Mr. Worst 18-3 Pitcher Ever needs to not be brought back, either.

And so it begins...

Why hate Crawford. The guy has been disappointing but I dont remember him doing anything that would make me hate him,

I actually saw Bob McClure pitch a game for the Brewers. September 18th, 1984 against the Detroit Tigers. I was at Tiger Stadium, that was the day they clinched the division title.

So this is management's compromise between sticking with the entire coaching staff the rest of the season or firing Valentine. Interesting.

Well, forcing people on each other is nothing new for them... considering they forced Valentine on Cherington.

I hope this keeps up because it'll drive away all the bandwagoners and pink hats and make it easy to get seats at Fenway again. Also because I'm a Yankees fan and watching the Red Sox fall apart like a leper (in Sox fan Bill Simmons' words) is always extremely satisfying.

I went to a game for $10.00 this year. There were $3.00 seats not too long ago.

Darn you, Subby, for making me read that in Phil's voice.

I don't get it.
