ox45tallboy: T.M.S.: As far as shows using more modern technology I have to quote Sarah Palin: "All of them"

...and I'd have to look at you like Katie Couric looked at Sarah Palin.

I'm sorry, but you don't put on a show like that with 40-year-old technology. The stage sets, puppets, and even the animations were all new.

Look, just give me one show that I missed with better technology and a higher entertainment value. I'll even allow "higher entertainment value" to be subjective. I don't believe anyone has ever attempted that elaborate of a stage design for an on-the-road tour.

I'm not condemning you for having this opinion, merely pleading ignorance. For instance, when I saw Green Day on tour last year, it was an amazing Rock and Roll show with great music, and I had a really good time. However, their stage set was not even remotely in the same class as Roger Waters. That doesn't mean it wasn't a great show, just that they didn't use technology remotely as advanced as Waters did.

I saw Iron Maiden live a few years ago. Eddie was on stage -- all 15 feet of him.

ringersol: TFA: " it was revealed Monday that a National Debt clock has been installed inside the Times Forum. It'll likely be referenced by several speakers and be a theme at the convention."

And surely they'll use that clock as a point of reference when discussing how the Ryan budget increases that debt by more than 2 trillion dollars over the next decade. And faced with that inconvenient fact, one would imagine they'll have a rousing discussion of how they can campaign on not raising the debt ceiling *and* increasing the national debt by 2 trillion dollars.

The session may be called: "The American People: Just How Dumb Do We Think They Are?"

Since 30--40% of the population votes for these assbags no matter what they do or say.....

Other than the people on stage, I mean.

What? They're holding the convention simultaneously in Second Life too?

/There is probably some Second Life flying P-ness grief on YouTube if you want to grasp the idea

Correction: It's something that SHOULD'NT be able to be hacked remotely.

Arrogance and incompetence lead to bad decision making.

The 2008 DNC convention set was supposed to evoke the Lincoln Memorial. (which it did poorly)

img594.imageshack.us

The design was surprisingly similar to the RNC convention set from 2004 (except Bush had the Presidential seal of course)

img411.imageshack.us

But the derp about "Obama's Greek Temple" was amusing at the time. So many people took issue with the Doric columns ignoring GWB's Federalist columns from four years earlier.

I wish I had the ability to search for those threads. They were hysterical.

At least to me.

"I think if you take a look at this as a play... these screens become another character in the play that will help tell the story," Romney Senior Advisor Russ Schriefer told reporters after the unveiling.

More like a game of three-card-monty than a play, but at least they are admitting that the "friend of the working class' routine is an act.

That sort of thing is secured, so you'd need a hardline to hack into the video server and alter the file contents of the display queue.

I'm reading the words of this guy from the RNC with the name that sounds like a skin disease... and he's talking about how the LED screens are a perfect blank canvas that can become whatever they need it to be at the moment, changing as their needs change... and I'm wondering to myself, are they still talking about the stage set, or about Romney?

Modeled after the open air altar to Zeus from ancient Greece. Original taken stone by stone to Berlin as part of Hitler's quest to fulfill an occult empire.

Bullshiat. The bit by bit transport of the Pergamon altar to Berlin began in 1879, ten years before Hitler was born. The museum, where it is kept, was completed in 1930, two years before Hitler was appointed chancellor.
Who told you this nonsense?

Revelation 2:13 - letter from John the Revelator to Pergamos (Pergamum) - "I know thy works, and where you dwell, even where satan's seat" Pergamos being famous for this altar to Zeus, which Almighty God says is the seat of satan.

Nobody was worshipping Zeus when Revelation was written. But people were worshipping the Roman emperor as a god, and Pergamon was home to the first temple of the divine Roman empirial cult.

I will agree that the stages look the same, if you will agree that the RNC stage would be a lot more fun with The Wall behind it.

The projections (or whatever they used) on the wall were incredibly clear. I'm sure some (or most) of the ideas were the same, but i would hardly say that the technology stayed the same. I don't know if what they were using was cutting edge, but the experience was pretty fantastic, and I'm sure there was no way they could have done it as well in the 80's.
