(Investors Business Daily)   Obama's motorcade didn't stop and buy lemonade from a girl selling it on an Iowa roadside, so that means Sarah Palin is automatically president and Obama has to receive an Indian burn from former US astronaut Ken "Sox" Bowersox   (news.investors.com) divider line 105

JusticeandIndependence: rwhamann: So what is the origin of the "Sarah Palin is automatically president" meme? I tried googling the other day, and all I found was Fark headlines and complaints about the meme. Where did it come from?

SkittlesTacos. It came from SkittlesTacos.

The My Little Pony Killer: Many strangers, even non-parents, find it hard to drive by such genuinely small businesses without stopping to feign an immense thirst that can only be quenched by a 50-cent cup of tepid lemonade. And then, claiming a lack of change, they suggest the youngster just keep a dollar bill. It's the way American adults encourage enterprise and independence in the next generation--and feel good about it.

Lol what? I've had no problems with driving right on past those lemonade stands. I don't want your kid's goober juice when I can stop by a gas station and get something with less mud in it.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure your blog (which sucks, btw) is making this entire incident up.

Yeah I keep on trucking. Kids are dirty and gross, I don't want anything prepared by them.

I'll gladly have them rake leaves or shovel snow though.

Infernalist: randomjsa: Want to know why he didn't?

"Oh Obama will stop to drink lemonade from a little girl?" Asked the guy with access to a little girl and something orderless/tasteless that's also toxic.

Sad but true.

Holy crap, did you just post something logical and pertinent and rational and completely devoid of douche-like typing?

Screen shotting this.

Is being the victim of a conspiracy to assassinate the president using a child dupe running a lemonade stand that logical? Seems pretty farking ridiculous to me

Chariset: Obviously he didn't stop because he hates little white girls. That's the only reason. The only thing he hates more than lemonade is little white girls.

She should have been named La'Taniya and it should have been a Purple Drank stand. He would have stopped then.

Word up. He looks for the Purple Drank symbol wherever he goes:

Be a little fair. Yes, it sounds outlandish. But, Secret Service doesn't play around and ponder acceptable risks. The avoid all potential risks, and stopping there without advance prep is simply not SOP.

Was it his bus or his wife's gargantuan fartbasket?

Okay, that's straight up hokum.

But the president's big black bus rolled right on by.

The president's big black what now? This guy sure is interested in things that are big and black...

2012-08-20 11:49:09 AM
Probably what did happen after the bus passed was the county authorities closed the stand down and gave the kid a citation.

By the way, I was wondering about the beer tent story. Did the tent operator not consent to having Obama appear, and the Secret Service just did it anyway? If the guy invited Obama in, as I presume he did, he had to have been told what would happen, so he must have been okay with losing the money.

andrewagill: The hits just keep comin'.

That farm family with all the windmills that President Quixote loves to laud turns out to be Republicans and informed reporters after Obama's visit that he sure wasn't getting their votes this time.

Uh... so Obama loves to laud the windmills that he attacks as President Quixote? I prefer my metaphors shaken, not stirred. And I'm sure Obama was chagrined that he did something good for a dude who won't vote for him.

Hmmmm. What's the term for someone attempting a difficult task using methods that are sure to fail?

I'm thinking of a situation where a candidate mounts a run for national office, is rejected as "too mushy-middle and not conservative enough" in favor of a guy who also had not-rock-solid conservatism problems, then tries again 4 years later (or really, hasn't stopped trying since) using the same strategy. Oh, he wins the primary by attrition, but then eschews records-release traditions, continues to run toward the right for the general (instead of running toward the center) - even picking a Catholic League Rand-fantasist as his VP, and spends the entirety of the beginning of the general election campaign responding to all the times he and his campaign have verbally screwed up. Even after the VP-bounce, the models have him about 55 EVs short (or 10-15 Mountain West states' worth).

What adjective might one use to describe such a run - a hard-fought battle with almost no chance of success?

Romneying (Rahm-nee-ing) (new word): to attempt/appear to attempt to complete a difficult task using counterproductive tactics.

Usage: Mitt Romney is romneying his presidential campaign.

Of course, he only did that for the purpose of slipping a tape recorder into the store to hear the opinions of the common man, and the first time your Dad said something Nixon didn't like, he made Nixon's enemies list and had an FBI file opened on him.

You can't just change the definition of Romney, it's already set in stone.

rom·ney (rom·nied, rom·ney·ing, rom·nies)
tr.v. To drive in a such an erratic manner that the dog strapped to the roof of your car defecates in fear, such that the defecation sprays backward all over the windshield of the car driving behind you.

Example: "Sorry I'm late, I hate to stop at the carwash because some idiot on the highway totally cut me off and romnied my car."

NO, MR PRESIDENT! IT'S A TRAP!

They're just trying to get you to buy lemonade from a non-legal entity such as this unregistered food distributor so they can call you a lawbreaker!

/if the polluted foodstuffs and diseases don't get you first
//win/win/win

cman: So?

Who cares?

Does the President have to stop at every foodstuffs sales?

Plus, although I dislike Obama a lot, I do not want any harm to come to him. Stopping like that in an area that has not been made secure is a dangerous security situation in which he could be assaulted or even killed.

Sorry, magazine/little girl, the world does not revolve around you

I have this vision of the little girl having a Mac-10 under her lemonade stand and whipping it out when the President stops his motorcade to patronize her.

But he's wearing a bulletproof vest and grabs one of his SS escorts' Sig Sauers and returns fire.

Sorry little girl. But it was in self-defense.

Thought experiment: good or bad for his re-election?

/sheesh, enough out of me today already

Presidents don't normally do genuinely spontaneous stops. They're important people, with a large entourage that knows important

Exactly... Has anyone SEEN a Presidential motorcade? We saw a VICE-Presidential motorcade once, and that took a full 5 minutes to pass by. This isn't some Arugula eating snobbery. Every time Bush came to Phoenix, it would cause an hour's worth of traffic jams on EVERY freeway in town, not just the one he was scheduled to drive down. Had Obama's motorcade pulled over, it would have easily meant 75 or so support vehicles, Secret Service, assorted staff, etc, These people don't just drive back to the airport on their own, it's a part of a security managed convoy, and when one car stops, many more have to stop. The President stops, they ALL stop.

And yeah, if you want to say that the President stopped by your stupid little beer tent at your little State fair, you're going to have to deal with the Secret Service closing it down. It's a fact of life that there are assholes out there who will shoot a President, and there are people who will go to every measure possible to make sure this doesn't happen. It's a free country, you could have told them to go to another beer tent, but you wanted something to tell the kids, you just thought you had a free spin when you figured out that you could biatch about the President at the same time as bragging.

Fark Investors.com and their wailing and gnashing of teeth. Grow the fark up and write some actual journalistic pieces, maybe learn how the world actually functions.
