As someone who was forced to be a boy scout and play team sports as a child (and it was a horrible experience, involving many beatings), you are full of shiat. Team sports and other normal activities are normal because they teach a host of things you actually need to be an adult, even if it is how to sneak-read while on a hike. Pageants (especially at that age) only train you to be a toy and an object.

You know what's pathetic about you, FNB? You can't even hate women on the courage of your own convictions. You have to keep coming around trying to drum up support for the Woman-Hater's Club, so that you don't have to be alone in your own little hate group.

Here's FNB at his club meeting:

Custody won't fix a goddamn thing. Custody and visitation are very different things. Custody means the father gets to make major decisions, like where the child will go to school. The kid may still spend 50% of her time with her mother. Second, while I agree what this lady does with her daughter is amazingly retarded, is it abusive? It's certainly not illegal. I don't see it here. I disagree with her parenting but and I'm glad the father is going to argue it out and I certainly hope he wins but if I'm the judge, from this article alone, I'm not granting sole custody. I think she's a bad parent, not an abusive one. There is no law, nor should there be a law, that you have to be a great parent.

Of all the things they could get called on, a dolly parton routine on a lark is sort of silly.

Fun fact, a lot of kids like to play dress up.

Not defending the parents on T&T, that's taking it to an unhealthy extreme I'd think, letting it run their lives like that.

But there are some anti-sexualization nutjobs out there. Like when Kick Ass came out and supposedly Hit Girl was a sexualized child....freaking retarded.

Adult style on a child is not necessarily "sexy" but just a lark. Dressing up Jr. in a suit and tie and people bubble over at how much of a Mr. Man he is. It's cute. Don't see a real problem with doing it in moderation for the most part.
Swimsuit competitions(if the have them), are probably a bit much though.

Child pageants should be illegal. Then it would just be doing an illegal activity with one's kid and therefore yes you can have custody.

Anything under the age of 13 definitely.

Jackson dressed her daughter herself in the Dolly Parton costume, telling the TLC show's cameras, "When she wears the fake boobs and the fake butt, it's just like an added extra bonus..."

Coco LaFemme: There's something deeply disturbing about mothers who want their daughters to look like grown women, to the point of outfitting them with fake breasts and a larger butt. The make-up, dresses, and dancing/poses are creepy enough, this adds a whole other level to it. They're farking children. Let them look like children. There's plenty of time for your precious little angel to tart herself up like a whore. Of course, by then, you'll flip your shiat if she leaves the house looking like she does now. Which is the sad and sick irony about it; it's okay to dress her like a hooker when she's 5, but if she goes on a date at 16 wearing the same outfit, you'll catch a case of the vapors.

Yeah, this.

Your daughter dressing like a whore at age 5? Mom: "Oh! How adorable!"

Your daughter dressing like a whore at age 16? Mom: "WHY ARE YOU DRESSING LIKE A WHORE?!?!?!"

Didn't HBO or some other cable network do a documentary about a little girl in beauty pageants years ago before the T&T rage started? Cameras followed the daughter and her mom around and the mom was totally nuts. Neglected all her other kids to make sure snowflake could compete in these things. I think they were from FLA and the little girl grew up to be a complete whack job. I thought I remember seeing something like that, could be wrong.

Same reason some fathers force their children to participate in Little League or other sports against the child's wishes. A chance to fix their own failure to accomplish their dreams through their children

There's a big difference between putting your kid, male or female, in Little League or other athletics, and dressing your daughter up like a truck-stop hooker, to be paraded around in front of grown adults. Some of those kids look like they put their make-up on with a trowel; I don't wear that much, and I'm 30 years old. Making your 5-year-old son hit a ball off a tee and run around a diamond is not the same as dressing your daughter like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman.

In Las Vegas there used to be this creepy billboard advertising a construction company. I never figured out if the person on it was a little girl dressed up like a hooker or a woman trying to look like a little girl playing dress-up like a hooker. Neither of which have anything to do with construction. I changed my route to work so I didn't have to pass it.

Thing is: it's one thing if the kid gets into it, has fun and you encourage this. It's another when the kid gets into it, has fun but then you start becoming a critic of his play. Then it stops being fun for a kid.

Critiquing the play of a professional is fine because they're getting paid for playing. Critiquing your kid's play is...highly stupid.*

Slow To Return: Is it still ok to dress my six year old up as Ariel (or some other slutty Disney princess) for Halloween?

No, then you go to jail. Dress her in a regular Disney princess outfit?(which usually includes a dress of a length even a Victorian Abbess would approve of) fine. But go the the "Slutty" section of the costume store and buy something for your kid? Have a seat over there please.

Reminds me of a famous sex shop I used to live near in Chicago (in the infamous Alley on Belmont) that had a t-shirt the listed "The ten things you never want to overhear at {name of shop} " after "Do you give a seniors discount?" was "Does this bondage dress come in child sizes?"

Yes, I remember that one. I figured it spawned "T&T". Disturbing. The father was totally whipped, and there was, IIRC, an older brother in trouble with the law or something that the mother could barely be bothered to care about. And the money wasted! Unreal. I've watched bits & pieces of "T&T", and am convinced that the kids all hate it. The mothers alternate between bullying them and bribing them, and as a result most of the kids shown are complete brats.

That's the biggest layman's misunderstanding of how Judicial custody decisions are made. You don't gain or lose custody because you are a good or bad person, and you don;t need to show that the other parent is a monster or unfit to win custody. The standard for a custody decision is "what is in the best interests of the child?" And sometimes that can mean that somebody who is a horrible person can still get custody because they can provide a better environment for the child (access to better schools, contact with more extended family like grandparents and aunts)

When I was a kid (early to mid seventies) I distinctly remember watching the Little Miss America pageant on TV. The girls wore sparkly gowns and had their hair done, and they probably wore makeup of some kind but they weren't painted to look like miniature 25-year-olds. In fact there's two types of kid beauty pageants, glitz and natural. Natural is probably like what LMA is--the girls can't wear any makeup other than mascara and non-shiny lip gloss per Wiki.

Only recently did I even hear about this show, because I don't ever go near TLC. And yet... one has to wonder who watches these types of reality shows, and for what reasons. I don't hate all reality shows... some are interesting, or have noble goals. Some are show-n-tells for dangerous, dirty, or crazy jobs. Some actually help the people involved or try. These I don't mind.

Honey Boo Boo... who the hell watches that? Are people just waiting to see who dies of a stroke or tetanus first? You can only watch fat poor delusional entitled families so long before you either want to call child services or punch the parents in the throat. I assume those that watch this is due to schadenfreude, 'thank god I'm not that bad' or 'thank god these losers embarrass themselves publicly' mentalities.
