I am praying that they reach as low as Raw in '97. WWE needs a kick in the ass.

What they are doing isnt working, it hasnt worked and it wont work, ever.

But they're saying Vince wants another Cena vs. Rock Wrestlemania!

Surely that'll put butts in seats!

WWE had something amazing last year. They had the CM Punk/Cena feud. That feud was the best thing that they had in a very long time. It got people excited, interested, and put asses in the seats. They ended it way too damn early, and they cannot pick up where they left off. Since that whole debacle WWE seems to just be getting worse and worse.

And the 3 hour Raw thing, those who do not learn from the past tend to repeat it. WCW Nitro had three hour Nitros regulary until 2000. 3 hours was wayyyy too much. Creative really sucked, and sucked so bad that they fired Bischoff and hired Vinny Roo. We all know what WCW was like under Vinny Roo.

I know, I probably shouldnt say this in public, but I was a WCW fan from 99-01 (I always liked the underdog promotion). Saying something like that is akin to coming out of the closet about one's homosexuality to their parents and doing it completely naked smeared with chocolate and honey.

I, for one, am shocked the Summerslam thread didn't reach the grudenza mark last night. Just shocked. Unfortunately I won't get to watch either that or tonight's Raw until, IDK, Friday? Taking the family to Cedar Point. I'm pretty sure I'll look something like this afterwards:

At one point, there was talk of putting Randy Orton into the Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio match at SummerSlam but the idea was nixed. The feeling was that they didn't need to beef up the World Heavyweight Title match because it wasn't a main part of the show. Orton will likely be taking a bit of time off in less than 1 month to begin filming 12 Rounds: Reloaded.

Hey, the WWE Championship match isn't usually a main part of the show either, so at least the belts are equal.

It is amazing to me that the titles have been trivialized.

The "non-wrestling fan" they are trying to attract with these sexy main events dont give a shiat when the last match is. The wrestling fans do. Just make the WWE title the main event of these shows. There is no reason Bork v HHH couldnt have been second to last and sandwiched by both title matches.

I have faith HHH will be better than Vince when he takes over but last night makes me uneasy.

Went back and watched the Bork/Game match since I was only half-watching/half-asleep last night... and it is indeed, very much, an extended squash, booked as a hero's unwinnable fight. Of course, nobody but HHH saw it that way during the match, and we only saw it from the horribly awkward ending sequence.

So who opens tonight? My money's on Heyman.

I've sad this before but that's kind of why it's been a downer sometimes. Before Summer of Punk, the threads would plow along mocking WWE because we knew it sucked post-Nexus angle and it showed no signs of getting better. We'd just have the fun til the next day. After Punk-Cena at MITB and the thread explosion when he won showed us HOLY CRAP THIS CAN BE GOOD, it hurt the mocking a bit because while we still mock well, we mock with longing at what could be if

And will Shawn Michaels be involved?

- Triple H's tease of a retirement was intended to look like Shawn Michaels' exit at WrestleMania 26, including how the post-match events were filmed. The company was trying to tease the fact that the Game's in-ring career is done and that Brock Lesnar "broke the spirit of WWE" as he promised.

The plan is to have Triple H have doubts about whether he can come back and build toward a rematch down the line. Survivor Series is a possible location for such a rematch. Lesnar's only current advertised appearance is tonight.

Shawn Michaels is not expected to come back to work a match with Lesnar, as he still wants to be the guy who stays retired in terms of in-ring competition.

And that is why WWE fails. They have an entire roster of people they could use, a woefully neglected midcard, tag teams (all 2 of them) and so on, but they give us more Triple H and other stars from 20 years ago. Because, that's what the fans want. Apparently.

I laughed out loud at the (literal) 10 minutes at the end of Summerslam given to HHH wandering the ring looking at the fans. I wonder how the people who actually paid good money for the show felt about those entertainment dollars?

I just can't get excited at any facet of the show anymore, given the utter ineptness of the booking. Why get emotionally involved in the great work Daniel Bryan is doing? He may end up in the main event ... he may end up getting squashed by Ryback ... who knows?

WWE.com posted a storyline article today noting that Triple H suffered yet another broken arm last night at SummerSlam. The article notes:

Following Triple H's devastating loss to Brock Lesnar in their "Perfect Storm" confrontation at Sunday night's SummerSlam pay-per-view, WWE medical personal have reported that The Game has suffered a broken arm - no doubt a direct result of his dangerous adversary's Kimura Lock.

It has also been released that The King of Kings broke his left arm in the same place that he did when Brock attacked him on the April 30 episode of Raw, an assault that lit the fuse on their tremendous rivalry. Although Triple H had initially refused medical attention last night, an examination this morning confirmed the severity of the injury.

I don't want to get to 1004 for number's sake, but I do want to get there to show that there's still some interest in WWE, even if there's a whole lot of sludge to work through. The everyday numbers are struggling mightily, but there's still some good to it. Last night, almost 50% of on air time was wrestling, which is pretty good considering the ending too... put that on Raw, good things will happen. Especially if they're talented midcarders.
