(Mother Nature Network)   It turns out bubbles may be toxic. And people wonder why parents today prefer it when their children stay safe inside their home playing video games all day   (mnn.com) divider line 63

TFA's Headline: Are bubbles toxic?

Toxicity is dependent on dosage.

So, unless you are chugging the bubble solution, I'm going to go with a solid "No." But, thank you, Mother Nature Network, for reinforcing the hypothesis that whenever a headline is in the form of a yes/no question, the answer is no.

Hey..try, you know, being a parent - instead of "finding your child on the other side of the playground sucking on the bubble-wand like a lollipop"

But no, of course "soap is poison" is the message we'll get from the dirty hippie network...

When my daughter was 2 if she got a hold of a bottle of bubble soap she would chug it. The whole thing. I had thought that she'd only do it once, but no, every time she got near one I had to watch her like a hawk to keep her from drinking it. I'm pretty sure she was trying to burp bubbles or something, but who knows.

I love that her solution is to make it out of organic soap or some crap. Damn, can't kids have anything anymore? Where are the stastics on how bubbles have harmed kids over the years? Oh, that's right- there AREN'T any, b/c this is a sensationalist headline meant to garner hits, without actually having information. Bravo. It's people like this that get things like bimbo seats recalled because people are too stupid to read the instructions and not put them on a high table or chair and then cry out that the product is defective when it falls off.

Or you could try coming down on a kid that tries to drink bubbles like the wrath of unholy farking god. Yeah, sometimes you do need to shout and be an entirely horrible, scary bastard so it'll stick in their swiss cheese memories not that oh that's not good for you, or oh mommy doesn't want you to do that. No, why the hell are you wasting your time with that crap beyond the one or two attempts?

Make sure that they don't do it again because they WILL recall the blazing-eyed hell beast that scared the unholy living monkey-shiat out of them last time. They'll remember that one. Give it a try ;p

Parenting - requiring that you sometimes have to be a bastard before they can be reasoned with since the dawn of time.

And before the "OMGZ horriblez kiddie-murdererkinds" crowd descends, the "beyond the one or two attempts" part is deliberate, definite, and required. Try it the nice way first. Then go to the not that nice but not Godzilla quite yet way.

Then feel free to go to Defcon: Hellbeast.

Anything that isn't labeled as Organic and given a 60% markup over the brands that the peasants buy is deadly poison and will destroy us all. And don't even think of vaccines or pharmaceuticals. You might as well feed your child arsenic cookies and wash them down with a glass of DDT.

No, but if you click on the linky in TFA for the healthy alternative soap, you'll find all the ingredients come from plants. So that must be okay, then...

while young John spent a good portion of his youth in a Bubble, i think it was not a soapy one. it was in the Bubble that John learned the dance moves that would one day see america wearing polyester and horking peruvian marching powder from coast to coast.

Even better, things like parabens are toxic in high concentrations only. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is harmless--drink it for months on end and you'll be horribly ill for months on end, but if you stop after several years you'll have no long term side effects (well, except maybe from the diarrhea it causes, and associated malnutrition or dehydration). This stuff is all pretty much perfectly safe.
