They have Dairy Queens in cities? I thought they were isolated to small, Midwestern towns. The kind of places where you can pick up high school girls in the parking lot by blasting "Stroke Me" out of the 6x9 Jensens in your '85 Monte Carlo SS.

STROKE!

This.

Strange women lying in cream aren't distributing swords. Besides, it's no basis for a system of government.

Indiana Jones shot a Sikh, today that would be labeled a hate crime and Jones would be spending life in prison.

that's an interesting point. I've seen DQs in small towns throughout the Midwest, South, Plains, and Rockies. I've never seen one in a major city. Sometimes, the outer suburbs, but never in the city proper.

I like to stop in and see what they have on their "local menu". The ones in Texas are the best I think.

DQs are in cities out west. I don't know what you mean about local menu.. there are the "small" DQs that have mostly ice cream and maybe a few other things.. then there are the full size "Grill and Chill" locations that have their burgers, chicken strips, etc along with their ice cream.

You can find these on the outer edged of DFW. They have the best ice cream of any fast food joint with that blizzard thing they have goin on. The food on the other hand is similar to high school cafeteria food.

The Grill & Chill DQs have a section of their menu that differs from location to location called the "Local Menu". The ones by where my in-laws live in TX have chicken fried steak sandwiches while the ones here in IL have BBQ pulled pork sandwiches on the local menu.

Don't have anything like that in California as far as I've seen. There isn't really a local cuisine that would fit, either, unless it's hot dogs or french dip sandwiches or Mexican food.

there's one in Arlington, TX, but i've been warned by a coworker who has spent the majority of her life in arlington to not go to that location. that's the only one i know in an actual city around here. there is 1 in Rhome, TX about 4 miles from my house...it's good!

and while i do like the dq food and ice cream, i much prefer to call BRAUMS the best fast food/ice cream place

Queue the gun control retaliation. Most notably, the "He probably wouldn't have hurt anyone with a sword and now a human life has ended" and "had the shooter missed he could have killed an innocent bystander" comments and let the Flame War begin!

There are two Dairy Queens within two miles of my house and I live in a city. Of course the HQ for Dairy Queen is about five to ten miles south of me so that may have something to do with it.

Authorities say the shooting appears to have been in self-defense but that detectives were investigating whether the gun used was properly registered.

So, the cops recognize that it was self-defense but they are still going to try to nail the employee with a misdemeanor unregistered gun.

I'd say that the employee is lucky that this happened in Vegas and not Chicago or New York.

Such an incident would never occur in Chicago; the city's prohibition upon the carrying of firearms in public by any individual who is not a criminal has eliminated all violent crime within the city, and thus no need exists for civilians to defend themselves from violent criminals.

Does not such a requirement violate the state preemption of firearm regulation?

Additionally, would not obtaining a non-resident permit from a state whose permits are honored by Philadelphia be a means of evading such a requirement?
