Hmm, where are all the Fark Independents saying, "WHERE DA JUNKETS AT?"

I guess that's only funny when it's a black Democrat.

The FBI probed a late-night swim...

sounds like a great use of their time.

I recall this trip.

That the news is not jumping on the problem that a whole collection of congresspeople took a AIPAC paid vacation during a very serious financial crisis is a big problem.

This should piss you off.

Gentlemen, I think we're overlooking an important issue.

The article said there were daughters of other congressmen there. How old were they? Did they see the penis? How close were they to the penis?

Wow, there is an awful lot of outrage over nudity in this thread.

If some of these Reps are hypocrites, fine, hit them for it, they deserve it.

But being naked is not harmful.*

It may be esthetically displeasing to some snowflakes that have been protected their entire lives from seeing the Human body except for approved pornographic purposes.

But it is not harmful.

/* except potentially harmful near power equipment

Yeah, it should. But my outrage circuits are burned out. I'll get them fixed when similar corruption on the Dem side is reported, rather than ignored.

I can't be bothered anymore. It's like a neighbor biatching over my other neighbors dandelions when they have a giant poison ivy fruiting and seeding the neighborhood, which somehow isn't a problem to them.

Party Boy: August 10, 2011
This week's reports that 20 percent of the U.S. Congress will be visiting Israel this month are stunning. Eighty-one members of Congress -- two thirds of them Republicans, 47 of them freshmen -- apparently think it is more important to be visiting Israel than it is to be at home dealing with the worst economic crisis in modern memory. America's economy is in flames and these guys are taking lobbyist-funded trips to what, watch Israelis take to the streets to protest the high-cost of living in that country?

1/3 were dems

Start getting it fixed.

Does your boss take off his clothes in front of you after hours? I can see a case possibly made for sexual harassment, if there were anyone complaining.

That said harassment is typically a civil matter, I'm not sure why the FBI is involved.

MontanaDave: Ambivalence: Heaven forbid public money should go to getting poor kids school lunches. IT's so much more important to use it subsidizing drunken skinny dipping in foreign lands. Yes, that is a fantastic use of tax money as well as a fantastic diplomatic strategy.

If you had bothered to RTFA, you'd know it wasn't public money. But go ahead and enjoy your outrage.

Because private interest groups funding liquor ladened ""fact finding" vacations *bribes* makes it so much better.

From an Arizona Republic article:

"Ben and I and our daughter Evie were there together that evening in the Holy Land, although I was eight and a half months pregnant with her," Tiffany Quayle said in a written statement provided by Quayle's congressional office. "We were neither party nor witness to any of the inappropriate behavior described in the article, nor were we a part of, or aware of any inquiry. We did return to Arizona with some water from the Sea of Galilee to baptize Evie after she was born."

I wonder if she pulled the pubes out of the holy water before the baptism.

skinnycatullus: such a blatant disregard for Holy Land etiquette

Right, because the Sea of Galilee is, really, just a giant baptismal font filled with Holy Water.

Mark Twain seemed to have the right idea, swimming there twice a day, even.  Too bad we didn't have an FBI back then, to waste money investigating him for some unknowable offense.

i really don't give a fark, but i wonder how republicans would feel if a similar cadre of freshmen dems were skinny dipping in, say, france.

Or could you imagine the Republican response if the Obama family took a "vacation" paid for by special interest groups to Israel, got drunk, and went skinny dipping in the Sea of Galilee?

The Sea of Gallilee is a public place, no? If any male person gets nekkid in a public place, that is a "crime", right? Should this guy register as a sex offender? (In Mass, if I get caught peeing behind a tree, I need to register as a sex offender).

Also, how old was this girl? I'm sure Kansas has issues with him being nekkid around someone
If this is common behavior in Israel, then I'm fine with it (actually, I'm pretty much OK with skinny dipping in front of hot chicks, so don't really care.....just pointing out where the "crime" might be).

patrick767: A GOP congressman you say? I can't believe it was coed.

Well like Newt Gingrich says, he knows deep in President Obama's heart that President Obama wants to wave welfare work requirements for all and would do it if he could; I know deep in the hearts of the male Republicans on that trip they wished it were an all-male orgy and they would have had one if they could.

THAT'S what I'm saying. How close was his penis to the girl? How old was she? Did she see the penis? Can she describe it in detail? Let me guess, shaft balls some veins and hair?

powhound: okay....I don't have a problem with skinny dipping....

but.....answer this:

wouldn't you find it awkward to strip off your clothes in the presence of your co-worker's wives....and in one case apparently....daughter?

No matter how drunk I am I would not strip butt naked in that particular company. Then again, I can handle myself when drunk.

Being drunk =/= instantly turning into a lecherous rapist, and I'm fairly certain seeing a nude body won't cause mental damage to other men's wives or to children.

I see this as no big deal and would not influence me to despise him. Only one guy got upset about it.
And hey, you have to understand that if he were to swim in his underwear he'd end up having to carry them around or toss them in the trash because you can't just wear them underneath his Steffano Ricci pants all wet like that.

(Just guessin' on the pants.)

Savage Belief: The poutrage is because they're congressmen and they should know better. Also they're GOP, and presumably fundies, not to mention this is considered a holy site. Would any of the atheist elites here get shiatfaced and take a dump on an Aztec temple? It's less about the act of getting drunk and naked and more about respecting the special places of other cultures.

Since they weren't arrested for indecent exposure, I'm guessing that there aren't any laws against skinny-dipping over there. And I'm still trying to find the difference between swimming in a pair of trunks and swimming the way we were born and why I should be outraged at it.

/yes, I don't think highly of the right at the moment, but for God's sake swimming naked at a beach where the natives do it is not something to get upset about
