Is this some kind of trick question?

I'm having a hard time giving a shiat. Were the off the clock / done for the day? Apparently, yes. So what's the problem here?

I don't care, either, but I'm not one of their fundie mouthbreathing supporters, who I am sure will be scandalized by such a blatant disregard for Holy Land etiquette. Also, the baby Jesus hates naked penises.

i really don't give a fark, but i wonder how republicans would feel if a similar cadre of freshmen dems were skinny dipping in, say, france.

Is this against the law or something? I can't really bring myself to care that some people had some drinks and swam.

This is me not caring either. But this reminds me of a recent story about a group of Oregon Republicans who went to a strip club in CA. When word got out they all apologized profusely. My biggest gripe with that one was that they didn't patronize a local strip club. I mean, we have a shiat ton of them and you can even drink in ours.

Many of the lawmakers who ventured into the ocean said they did so because of the religious significance of the waters. Others said they were simply cooling off after a long day. Several privately admitted that alcohol may have played a role in why some of those present decided to jump in.

lol

Heaven forbid public money should go to getting poor kids school lunches. IT's so much more important to use it subsidizing drunken skinny dipping in foreign lands. Yes, that is a fantastic use of tax money as well as a fantastic diplomatic strategy.

Also this. My question is why the hell the FBI is involved. If there was some law broken, wouldn't it be up to Israel to do something about it?

It's always important to spend tax money for sending Freshmen Congressmen to skinny dip in front of other Freshmen Congresscritters daughters, I'm not even gonna speculate on her age.

That's why, it's a fact finding mission, the fact of life perhaps, but facts

why are private organizations funding a congressional "fact finding" trip? What facts were they supposed to find?

Well that's what I get for skimming TFA, as long as getting naked and hanging out with kids is cool then (by Israeli naturally, not a crime here if no sexuality involved), it's all good I suppose

It still runs contrary to the laws these guys would love to push on the rest of us peons however

According to the article, it wasn't funded by taxpayer dollars. The trip was pad for by a group relatd to AIPAC.

Even if it were paid for with tax money, who cares? It's after hours, they were done for the day, cut them some slack. I'm more offended that the FBI felt the need to waste taxpayer dollars investigating this.

They were just baptizing each other.

But given the usual nature of GOP scandals - misspeaking about rape, getting caught with the rent boy, voter caging, influence peddling, selling the American government to corporations - this is pretty tame. I'd be perfectly happy if they limited themselves to these types of scandals for a while.

Hell if I know. Probably that Israel is awesome and we're BFFs or whatever. But the money wasn't public money, apparently.

FTFA: numerous GOP freshmen lawmakers

Probably all TeaBaggers enjoyings a junket fully paid for with the hard-earned dollars of the hard-working taxpayers of America.

2012-08-20 01:07:59 AM
But Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.), who was the senior most GOP lawmaker in Israel on the trip, was so upset about the antics that he rebuked the 30 lawmakers the morning after the Aug. 18, 2011, incident, saying they were distracting from the mission of the trip.

Man, that's a lot of "NO ONE MAY HAVE FUN ON MY WATCH" there, getting upset about some people relaxing in a pretty non-offensive way that costs the taxpayers 0$ when they're off the clock.

Cantor wants to be speaker of the house so farking bad he can't stand it. A whole lotta authoritarian in that little guy. One of my favorite Obama moments is Cantor demanding to see his plan for the debt ceiling and Obama telling him it's with his speaker.

Okay, is the problem with the nudity, the drunkeness, or it happening in the Sea of Galilee? Maybe no one would care if it was Lake Michigan.

Wouldn't it be awesome if one of them was caught skinny dipping and they refused to apologize, while curtly saying it's no one's goddamn business what they do in their free time? This is the problem with having mouth-breathers as your base...getting drunk and blowing of some steam is a mortal sin to the fundie crowd.

This is a non-story that Politico has sat on for a while.

They just had to throw it out there now to try to distract from Newsweak's anti-Obama issue.

Politico is a joke.

For pandemic prevention purposes, I would care if no one was properly vaccinated against Hepatitis prior to taking a dip in Lake Michigan.

Which is kind of shocking too.. a huge junket to another country for a load of lawmakers paid for by a lobby for a foreign country would generate enormous pushback if it was a different combination of country and lawmakers.

2012-08-20 01:33:16 AM
You know, Jesus apparently swam in the Sea of Galilee himself. And back then, they didn't have swimsuits. Which means that Jesus likely swam nude in the same of Galilee, just like this guy.

And remember what the Jews did to him...

2012-08-20 01:34:07 AM
At least it didn't cost American tax payers 200 billion dollars a day.
