Nem Wan: This is what Republicans actually believe.

That's fascinating.

In The War On Women, Todd Akin will play the part of Leeeeeroy Jenkins.

Publikwerks: Well, not so much the body. See, if it was a legitimate rape, God would stop the conception. If the conception happens, it's because it's God's will for that baby to be born. So, it couldn't be really rape.

God threw that loophole in there because he didn't want to be prosecuted by the Elder Gods for "legitmately raping" Mary.

/the harlot was asking for it

I thought I was hearing things when I heard this the other day. I'm still in disbelief that someone can utter these words.

That slot was already filled by Ruuuuush Limbaugh.

You people need to relax. If a woman gets raped and impregnated, all she has to do is marry the rapist.
It is the inerrant word of God.

Mrtraveler01: Insult Comic Bishounen: Mrtraveler01: jeaux65: Help me. I'm surrounded by the derp. So torn when I love this state so much, and hate more than half the people here.

To be honest, that sums up the thoughts of most Missourians.

/myself included
//wishes KC and St. Louis could break apart from the rest of Missouri

How about KC and STL and a narrow corridor that contains I-70? Or KC and STL as their own states?

I'm good with the I-70 corridor idea. We can include Columbia then.

And that should cover the blue areas. I have lived in this state for the overwhelming majority of my life...and I do love it.

But the mind-numbing disparity of KC/CO/STL and the rest of the state being about 2 decades behind everything clearly makes me wonder what the hell are these people smoking out in the fields?

Parthenogenetic: Rincewind53: Several things to note from Congressman Akin's response:

1. At no point did he apologize or explain what he means by "legitimate" rape, and what "illegitimate rape" might entail
2. At no point did he apologize or explain what he means by the bizarre assertion that women who were raped wouldn't get pregnant as a result
3. At no point did he apologize for his comments implying that women who get raped shouldn't be allowed to get an abortion.

In other words, go F*CK yourself, Congressman Akin, and leave the decisions about women's bodies to those who actually know how the hell pregnancy works, and have a vagina themselves and are therefore the only ones actually affected by your asinine comments.

If it were a legitimate rape, the woman's body would activate its anti-rape defenses, and miscarry the fetus.

If she were asking for it by dressing or acting provocatively, she'd get pregnant.

Ergo, a pregnancy resulting from a "rape" proves it wasn't a legitimate rape, and the woman is a slut, not a victim.

Faith-based science FTW!

That made me squint in confusion so hard that one of my eyeballs fell out.

Thanks a lot, farker.

zetar: Again, where are the right wing paid trolls?

Are they being told not to comment?

Ah, if you're missing them, you can get your fix in the comments area of any of 1000 rw websites:

"really, he's just telling the truth and getting crucified for it"

"the MSM jumps all over the tiniest gaffe from a Republican and completely ignores far worse ones from the left"

"He's apologized for it already. But the Dems of course won't let this go since this is all they have."

"It's a pity something like this is seized upon while innocent babies are still massacred on a daily basis"

...and endless variations on the above.

NateGrey: Sometimes they ARE asking for it. And guys will look at clothing as a hint. If she isn't wearing underwear & is falling out of her top, the average 19 year old male considers that a fairly strong hint that "I'm available".

Looks like Phyllis Schlafly has a Freeper account.

Coming from the Party that literally promotes disdain for science and education, no one should be surprised by this.

Akin's original comments are bullshiat. There are 310 million Americans alive today on account of a pregnancy caused by rape, including this farker (the woman consenting doesn't excuse the fact that it's still rape).

I didn't think that could be real, so I clicked. . . And not only did he do an impressive routine, he really stuck the landing.

No, just a real American who stands up for a woman's right not to be raped. We need to teach men not to rape or even have sex.

Sex is rape to this man, regardless if consent is involved or not. It's all rape, and it should all be punished. Anyone who believes otherwise is misogynistic.

keylock71: Oh look...Another Republican who is completely ignorant of how the female body works and thinks women should have to raise children born from rape.

Keep in mind, Paul Ryan was a cosponsor of this ignorant asshole's bill attempting to define "forcible rape"...

This is what you vote for when you vote for the GOP.

Actually the bill doesn't even bother to define what it means by 'forcible rape' which is probably worse.

Appropriately, that movie is one of the few horror movies based on rape pregnancies, and men are the most frequent victims...

Dufus speak
Apparently, sex with a woman who is asleep is not rape. Or at least not if you had consensual sex earlier.
