For some reason, I just thought "What if Gordon Lightfoot started destroying ships just so he could write epic songs about them?"

You know a television show is bad when it's about dinosaurs you're still bored to death.

/article is interesting, btw.

For the rest of my life, I'll be wondering why they found that ship's masthead in the Badlands.

I liked Terra Nova, it was OK, not as good as Stargate Universe though- couldn't believe that got canned while Falling Skies was allowed to limp on as Noah Wyle's prosthetic career-support.

I thought Stargate Universe was pretty well done. It was at least thoughtful.

I gave up on Falling Skies -- could've been so much more, but it wasn't. Stuff like sending six guys out on a patrol with belts of machine-gun ammo on their shoulders, and no belt-fed machine gun, just really get under my skin, too.

I have hope for that "Revolution" show at least. Some.

My problem with SG:U was that it wanted to be a dark serious show. SG1 and Atlantis were much more fun and tongue in cheek. It was ok but shouldn't be how the stargate series ends.

Revolution looks like it will probably be closer to FlashForward and The Event than to anything really good. I'm going to give it a shot, but I don't look forward to the technobabble to explain its premise.

You and me both. If they had spent the whole season advancing the plot like the last two episodes they would have made it easily. They burned too many episodes with useless single show throw away stories in the middle of the season.

still hoping netflix or someone will pick it up...

I agree. There's definitely potential in the show. The ratings were pretty decent, it would be nice if someone would pick it up and run with it.

I hate to break up this shiatty Sci-fi pity party, but this makes ,me smile. Terra Nova was a good boat that took Scott to the Pole and brought his body back. She also played a part in rescuing him in 1902. A damn good boat that was sunk by ze Germans in WWII.

/Why yes, Polar history is a hobby of mine.
// Been listening to the Das Boot soundtrack all week.

SG:U really picked up towards the end. As much success as the Stargate franchise has had I have little doubt it will return one day, the same with Star Trek, Enterprise may have underwhelming but a new series will come.

I do agree about the tone however. SyFy wanted to recreate the success of BSG, and while there was likely a lot of overlap in the fanbase, Stargate had been successful for different reasons. Stargate thrived on being able to subtly lampoon a lot of sci-fi conventions without breaking the narrative, the tongue-in-cheek nature of the show was half the fun.

What I want to know is when Joss Whedon is going to get with HBO, or pretty much anyone other than Fox, and bring his special brand of brilliance back to TV.

Because they were all dead before the show even started. Jacob and the Others were just a red herring to throw you off. There was no island.

Wait. The article says the ship sunk in 1943. Then the end of the article states that the crew went to Antarctica in 1912, found out the Norwegians beat them to it, then they died on the return trek.

Well, of course they died, they were on the boat for 30 farking years.
