This might be interesting to hook up to my thermostat that I build from parts and a cheap Android tablet. Although I imagine if I just had their software I could run it right on my thermostat. I wonder if there is actually any technology in it or if it's all software, if it's all software then the price is ridiculous.

But clearly it's NOT a numeric-only key, he did put in 3 letters. But only 3?? Actually this wouldn't even pass a lot of auto-checking as a "good password".

When trying to brute force a password you have to basically try the entire password at once, correct? So knowing that every character in a password could be a number, letter, or special character does it actually make it any stronger to have more letters or special characters in the password? Do brute forth algorithms automatically try purely numeric combinations first before moving onto alphanumeric and then alphanumeric + special characters? If trying to crack a 6 character password that is known to have any combination of alphanumeric and special characters is 184232 less secure than 18423A, or 1842A! ? Would 1842A! be less secure than !A4^Z6 ?

Couldn't we just have software that does this on an old Android phone? It's got WiFi, mic, speaker, screen for lights, temp sensor, GPS, etc. etc.
