Ah ha! A nice tidy demonstration of my theory that the escape from Alcatraz was effected by a paddleboat made of raincoats and not a raft made of raincoats.

After watching the people being interviewed, that's not an exaggeration. There's a hurricane rushing between the ears of those people.

"The dog was smarter than the other four of them. None of them had life preservers or floatation devices, except for the poodle."

It's nice to know that at least one dog has the critical thinking skills necessary to evaluate their personal safety on the water... and the opposable thumbs necessary to follow through.

Yeah, the wrong part of the Gate at the wrong part of the tide can make even decent-sized sailboats look foolish... a paddle boat full of tourists? Darwin was ready to add to his tally....

That thing they were on isn't so much a boat as a water toy. They shouldn't be taking it anywhere they wouldn't be able to swim back from, which would mean... Well, they shouldn't be taking it into SF Bay at all, since they weren't wearing wetsuits.

When, I ask you, are members of H. sapiens going to give up the widespread idea that they are a superior species?

(I know some farkers are wise, but many are just plain fools). Learn from the dogs, people! I'm glad the dog put on his/her life preserver.

Absolutely this. My parents used to sail the trans bay race when I was a kid in a small boat. They'd come rolling back home looking like drowned rats. That was one boat trip we were always happy to not go on.

They eat cat poop, dude. When there is a whole bowl of food that is scientifically designed to feed them. They eat pigeons that have been run over by cars. They drink out of toilets.

And you let them lick you on the mouth.

Solid Muldoon: They eat cat poop, dude. When there is a whole bowl of food that is scientifically designed to feed them

Scientifically designed food is probably the worst thing in the world. If not the worst, at least up there.

In one prison, the warden came up with a novel way to get around the bill of rights and torture inmates who act up without resorting to solitary confinement. He called it "food loaf" You see, you have to feed prisoners each day. (3 hots and a cot) but there's no rules that say you have to feed them in a certain way. As long as it's wholesome, presentation is irrelevant. So prisoners who act up get put on "food loaf" meal plans. All their meals are a homogenous roll of veggies in bread. Kind of like meat loaf. No sauce, no variety, just the most homogenous blend of nutrients and fiber it's possible to make. Like solidified boredom.

The record for continued misbehavior after food loaf starts is something like a week and a half.

Dogs live something like 14 years on average.

After 10 years of food loaf, you'd be re-eating morsels yourself. To the best of my knowledge, wolves DON'T eat their poop in the wild. That "scientifically formulated" kibble is probably to blame for that particular trait. If you fed your dog a variety of good food instead of just blah kibble all the time, they might just let sleeping turds lie.

Obviously someone put that vest on the dog, so they are the smarty, I guess.

Perhaps they are a strong swimmer and didn't want a vest. Did they drown? No. So I don't understand the insult.

After listening to you spout off about dog food in almost every thread you post in.. I gotta say dude.. give it a rest. I've seen many wolves eat poo in the wild. They eat pretty boring diets in the wild as well. Dogs are scavenging omnivores. They have one of the most repulsive diets around. Stop acting like kibbles and bits is killing dogs. There is no evidence to show that $80 / month dog food is any healthier than $10 / month ol roy. It is absolute bs marketing by fooo foo dog lovers. Feed your dog protein, fat and some carbs. They will live just fine.

I discussed the eating cat poo problem with a vet med professor once. We got our dog to stop doing it when we started feeding her cat food. He said add a little more protein and it should be fine. Pet food is pet food.

Lol. I love it when they throw out the "well this is how wolves do it..." or "This is what they would do in the wild". As if a wild breed of animal maybe doing something a certain way means it is inherently good for your domesticated different breed of animal. The logic gap, it burns.

I just figured the reason the diet of a wild animal was diffrent from a housepet is that wild animals must scavenge to fufill their dietary needs. Pet food should fufill it, but humans make it and buy it because they don't allow their animals to hunt or even go outside sometimes.

My cat has a lot of digestive problems and I have to have her on a very specific type of kibble. I asked my vet if I did an organic meaty home made cat food would that help. She said hell no. Although I have a sneaking suspicion it's because it's rx kibble that I have to buy from her...

It makes me sad to think some people ONLY feed their animals ONE kind of food.

In zoos, the animals get a very specific diet of fresh veggies, fruits, canned foods, and yes kibbles of various sorts. Zupreem makes canned marmot chow, for example. I mean how specific. But that's not ALL the marmots get to eat.

There's no good that comes from homogenous and repetitive diet. Even if you get 110% of your daily dose of every vitamin required to sustain vitality, I can't honestly call it a life.

I have a very happy healthy mixed great pyranees that loves finding mice and voles in the field. The cyotoes even leave an occasional tribute to her. Vet said she's one of the few animals that isn't a working dog that's a healthy weight that she sees. (College town, live on the outskirts.)

Please repeat after me: DOGS ARE NOT HUMANS. They give two tosses what they eat. Dog's don't get "bored" of dog food BECAUSE THEY ARE FARKING DOGS. I've fed both of my dogs Iams green kibble. One lived for 14 years, the current one is going on 13. That's a good run for Rottweilers.
