I clicked the Funny button. Definitely not the Smart button.

Even I think this is ridiculous. At best, we're an Europa League qualifier and that's even if all those teams above get AIDS.

Liverpool could well be on 0 points after 4 or even 5 games. A relegation battle is far more likely than top half I'm afraid.

I predict 7-8th. Not going to go down.

Full time: Arsenal/Sunderland 0-0

Not what I was hoping but not a bad game. Gunners are working hard and moving well, and had a lot of chances. Sunderland defended well and Arsenal got in anyway.

Norfolking Chance: Alas a bad start to the season. At least we are loosing to Fulham in the Premier League and not to Colchester.

Next up a home game at Carrow Road and QPR. Battle of the drubbees

I like your chances for a midtable finish. Can't read too much into the first fixture of the season. You guys have a solid squad.

Ayatollah of Rock-n-Rolla: Big win for Fulham, and Big loss for Liverpool. What a great day. Now the two questions: Why would Dempsey want to go to that tire fire of a club now, and if he does, how much will Rodgers be forced to pay for him by Fenway Group.

/Dempsey would be best at Arsenal
//or a CL French side
///been saying it for 9 months now

I have thought he'd fit in well at NUFC with his flexibility. Unlikely to happen though.

bluetrain343: SomebodyElsesShoes: zoobaby: bluetrain343: Meet the new Liverpool, same as the old Liverpool.

Yup...my local liquor store will make a ton of money off me...

Assuming the players are buying what Rodgers is selling, they'll be good. Today's result notwithstanding.

I don't know. I feel like if you see Chelsea or one of the Manchester clubs in the position of being down 2-0 with 10 men, usually they'll still play with some self-belief and purpose. Things go wrong for Liverpool and they just fall apart.

Eh, you see it though, Man U v. Man City last year, for example. Granted West Brom is no Man City.

I think he needs to go to Germany.

7th or 8th would be a miracle if they don't have any points after the United game.

Since my Prem team is waiting until Monday, some lower league notes:

Ipswich Town sputters to a draw against relegated Blackburn
AFC Wimbledon starts their 10th year (and 2nd in league 2) with a win

And Lower-lower-lower league...
VCD Athletic is topping the Kent League at like the 9th level on the English system after 2 games.

The only thing worse than being bad is being irrelevant. Liverpool is perilously close to turning into Notre Dame football.

nervously expectant for my Chelsea crew; they're going to miss Drogba. A lot.

Top 4: ManCity, ManU, Arsenal, Chelsea (maybe). Might've thrown Spurs up into that list, but Harry's gone and AVB ain't all that.

Relegation: QPR is now 37 games from relegation. That's a lock. Wigan and Villa joined them at the bottom of the survivor list last year, and Villa's ready to drop, but think Wigan will survive again. West Ham, get ready for the chop.

Yes, I'll take irrelevance over being a hole in the ground.

i don't think so, because he was a drama queen at times, and added more injury time for the opponents.
he was a great striker tho!

I hate it when people suggest rule changes. I'd like to suggest a rule change. Why can't they let the physio on to tend to an injured player while play continues? They manage this in rugby where it's much more difficult to avoid the player.

Also, 64% - Van Persie (30 goals 9 assists) & Song (1 gl, 11 assts (4 for RVP)) scored or assisted 47 of Arsenal's 74 PL goals in 2011-12. Goners.

They do this sometimes, removing the player (seems like if he's near the sidelines) from the field of play, allowing it to resume. I'm not sure of the official ruling, however.

I take back my prediction about Newcastle having a strong season, that back line is a disaster.

Their problem is also Tottenham's problem. Dawson always hurt, Ledley King retired (and probably injured on the couch somewhere now) but Kaboul is coming along...

I think Everton will close the gap on them (even further) for those Euro League spots. It's still early though...

Perch is filling a slot. Taylor, S has been out for 7 months. I hope we buy another CB and FB - or use Anita as the extra FB - before the deadline passes.

Not just that, but big-spending rivals QPR had an opposite Fulham day today losing 5-0. What a day to be a Fulham fan.
