"Why does Obama prefer to drink malt beverages while ensuring that lemony wet goodness is taxed, regulated, and sold only on the black market established by poor children with rickety wooden stands?"

PC LOAD LETTER: I love how one of the comments rail on Prohibition. An Amendment overwhelmingly supported by CONSERVATIVES.

History books show that it was Demmycrats who were on the wrong side of that one, you liar!

Just like when Ronald Reagan freed the slaves.

1. Pass law allowing children to be exempt from regulations and safety inspections

2. Hire thousands of kids in groups no larger than three to work in "micro-sweatshops" for twenty hours a day.

3. Make Mad profits, and Uncle Sam can't do squat about it.

I have it on good authority that the vast majority of lemonade stands are SOCIALIST, with the means of production provided at no costs by the state (mom)!

I'm going to be sure I show my love for America and its freedoms by buying dozens and dozens of these 50-cent cups of slightly lemon-flavored water. On my way to protest the building of a mosque of course.

Ultimately progressives and conservatives supported Prohibition. Quite frankly, by the time it got rolling, the only people who opposed the Amendment's passage were dirty foreigner immigrants like the Irish.

It didn't take long for some progressives to begin realizing that social engineering was a mistake and to begin supporting repeal but everyone was to blame for the thing in the first place.

I would adjust both of our arguments to be more specific: Nativists, Protestant religious leaders, Southerners, and Sufferagists supported the ban. Catholics, immigrants (mostly Irish and German), and a gaggle of others opposed it. Bonus points: the KKK supported it.
