They actually slowedtheir vehicle as a child picked up a ball that had rolled in the street.
That was when they first encountered Pacheco, who also darted in front of their truck and brandished a knife. The workers proceeded to drive away.

Classy.

It might have been dad that was pissed at the truck. To be honest they didn't know. Kept an eye on her and then went right back. My question is what was an 18mo old doing out there with siblings in the street.

Don't just comment based on the headline, especially when subby's an idiot.

FTFA:

Banuelos-Valenzuela said as the truck drove off, he saw Pacheco grab the girl from the front yard of a house.

Also, I must say that I was impressed that NONE of the comments on that website were screaming about "ILLEGALS" or any of that. Down here in Beautiful Farking South Carolina, even the heroes would be getting abuse from the local asshole newspaper website contingent.

If they are illegals, they need to be fast-tracked to citizenship. These are the type of people we want to keep around.

It's not normal to slow down in a situation like that? Guess that neighborhood needs some new signage.

That said, the Hero tag is well deserved!

Well, El Paso is 85% 'minorities,' so that may factor into it.

El Paso has a fairly low violent crime rate, as well, which is kind of odd considering CJ just right there next door.

The heroes in this story were almost certainly illegal immigrants. Latino landscapers? I've never met one with legal status.

It's a given that Fox News won't run the story, but I wonder how the internal discussion on things like this goes in their offices.

Do the Fox News editors simply know better than to highlight a story that has illegal immigrants as heroes, or do they actually talk about it? Do they say out loud to one another, "great story, too bad they're illegals".

Quick search didn't find it on foxnews nor CNN, so keep f-ing that chicken.

Ummm, green cards for all?

I think that anyone who does a highly good act should be forgiven for any more minor slights. That means we give clemency for good Samaritans for any pending past acts below the level they are responsible for preventing, or a pass at any one future misdemeanor. It's a means of promoting good actions in the population.

Reading up on law our definition of felonies are mostly well founded. Except the more capitalist ones.

Road workers, field researchers and anyone else who goes around areas that aren't frequented by normal people run into strange situations all the time. One of my co-workers was doing research in a remote area and ran into a lost hiker. He was very grateful for the free ride back to town, not to mention lucky (co-worker could have been miles from that spot, went there by random chance).

Another time my co-worker and I were doing field research and found a book bag that had been dumped there. It looked like the thief had thought there was a laptop inside and grabbed it, then opened it to only find books and papers and tossed it out of the getaway car. I called the number of the company on the papers when I got back in and they knew right away what I was talking about. The owner was relieved to get it back so quickly.

What the fark is with "journalists" writing such fragmented and non-linear stories? Oh, ill just type a bunch of random facts in no particular order, then maybe bother to tell the actual story at the end of the article.

It happens ALL OVER THE DAMN PLACE these days. WHAT THE HELL MAN?

Maybe it's sports news experience? When reading an article about a sporting event the night of/morning after, they do this thing where they put in details and facts line-by-line going backwards, so that when you read the beginning of the article you're getting a retrospective of the whole game, and as you reach the bottom it's from the opening minutes. Weird.

I'm sure the tree workers were sad the siblings and the other unnamed folks gave chase, too. Bet they thought they had dibs on the girl fair and square.
