The first 4 seasons of Dexter were great. The 5th season was virtually unwatchable it was so bad. I don't know if I've ever seen a show take a nosedive like that.

Did the 6th season rediscover some of the magic?

I tire of Dexter.

No. It was unbearable.

Yeah I thought it was good. IMO it goes 1, 2, 4, 6, 3, 5.. The ending to 5 was just awful. Like the writers didn't know how to properly write out Lumen so she was just like "We killed everyone, so... bye."

Honestly, he probably just did you a favor. The entire storyline in Season 5 is just ridiculous and boring, especially compared with the insanity of Season 4. It just falls completely flat.

Sorry man, I'm usually not one to post spoilers but yeah.. that was like 2 seasons ago.

What's Dexter's official death tally? Anyone? Anyone?

2012-08-16 05:44:36 PM
Who cares? I just want to make sure Walter Jr. gets his breakfast.

/kidding- can't wait.

I didn't hate Season 6 as much as a lot of people did, but it would be nice to see another arc that grabbed me like Season 4. Hopefully Season 7 will do justice to this trailer.

/Please kill Deb

Mark Ratner: What's Dexter's official death tally? Anyone? Anyone?

it was at 63 in one of the early episodes of season 5.

This looks, promising.

its like I never....

2012-08-16 06:19:42 PM
I think Season 4 was incredible. Possibly the best season after the first. Plus they killed off Rita who was a huge drag on the show. I think we're all in agreement that season 5 is the worst. 1, 4, 2, 6, 3, 5.

2012-08-16 06:20:10 PM
I liked Lumen as a character, but the rest of season 5 had a lot of problems. Season 6 just dragged.

I am seriously excited about 7, though. I've been waiting for this show-down since season 1.

2012-08-16 06:20:46 PM
If Dexter is still works as at the police department and still kills people by the end of this season, I will be disappointed.

2012-08-16 06:23:41 PM
I've been waiting for this to happen (Deb to find out about Dexter) since season 1 so I may have to revisit my decision to avoid the show.

2012-08-16 06:24:20 PM
Didn't bothered with season 6 after season 5. I hope the final season revolves around Dexter's arrest and subsequent trial. I would definitely tune in for that.

2012-08-16 06:33:43 PM
All Dexter seasons have been epic or close to it...

I even liked the season with Lumen in it.

But this last one with Collin Hanks...was so blah, it redefined blah to a whole new, horrible, boring level of blah.

THIS new season however, looks as though the writers are dead set (fitting wording for Dexter) on redeeming themselves.

That makes me happy...

2012-08-16 06:36:41 PM
The problem with 6 is that they gambled everything on the Geller twist being SO SHOCKING...when, instead, it was incredibly obvious.

I mean, by the end of "Nebraska", did anyone NOT have that figured out?

Yeah. I guessed the "twist" way too early. That kind of ruined things for me. Also Dexter himself seemed......dumb and sloppier this season too.

but the books are just.... somewhere between ok and awful, season 5 is better than anything that isnt darkly dreaming dexter.

He's been getting sloppier every season. He was a got-damned ninja in season 1.

I admit, I had not, but I am with Fish in a Barrel with simply not caring. I did not feel invested in any part of this season. this did not come as a shock to me, just an aside little fact.

1 and 4 definitely are on the top, but I feel extremely underwhelmed by 2 and 3. The Skinner is not a menacing person in the least, and the reason for his inclusion in the series is ridiculous. Whatsherbritishface is a stupid character, and I remember basically nothing happening during this season except a cabin blowing up. For all of the faults of 5 and 6, I find it hard to accept 2 and 3 are above them. Parts of 3 are acceptable, more parts are unacceptable, and parts of 5 and 6 were acceptable with more parts unacceptable, but at least the villains were worth hunting in the latter two.

I thought Season 6 was decent if you know going in that it's the start of the show winding down, otherwise it kind of felt all over the place. This season does look great though.

god damn it. I was on season 3 a year ago and then stopped watching. Looks like i have some catching up to do.

I guessed the twist the moment the character appeared on screen. We've had 5 seasons of the same thing going on with Dexter, I don't know why the writers thought it would be such a huge twist.

Oh, one other thing about 6 that I didn't notice the first time through:

"Doomsday Adam," the guy who posts all the weird video comments on the blog, is Lil' Kev from It's Always Sunny.

Season 2 is more of an extension of Dexter's character than a villain story-arch season. My only problem with it is that it seems like a story that came a bit too early in the series.

Dexter's already gone on about 3 seasons too long. Those asides with his dead dad and the voice- overs where he contemplates his fate are beyond repetitive.

It was even worse than season 5.

Another show that I watch begrudgingly. I wish it ended a couple seasons ago yet I'm unable to stop watching the new episodes.

Goddammit, Masuka getting stabbed through the throat better be just a fantasy.

The entire set for Dexter comes from Brook Furniture Rental. I see the invoice every month.

You'll love it! and you'll love Weeds Season 23!

Showtime, please kill these shows.

Yeah, I'm going to tune in just because I've been watching the show for six years now, but five and six were farking horrible. Nobody, let alone season one-era Dexter, could be as dense as he was late last year. It's as if the writers said, "hey, we've got this cool story to tell, but let's throw anything that was consistent about the characters before out the window to make it happen." The crowning moment of Dexter's stupidity, imo, was when he believed that "Gellar" saw him from the top of the church, jumped down, and got away without a g-d sound. It was like

This. Two terrible shows that I keep watching, because when they're good, they're really good.

No, you don't. Dexter has sucked since season three; the first two season were the only good ones. Showtime, please, put this show out of its misery.

whatshisname: Dexter's already gone on about 3 seasons too long. Those asides with his dead dad and the voice- overs where he contemplates his fate are beyond repetitive.

This. Getting rid of the original show-runners, taming and domesticating Dexter the character, killing Doakes, the awful dialogue...there are many reasons why this show has steadily gone downhill since season two.

2012-08-16 08:47:54 PM
He just explained to Deb that he was so frustrated and upset and messed up over his wife being murdered...Deb's going to buy it, and then she's going to cover for him on the murder...protect the family, protect the guy she's in love with...and then introduce a new killer...it's going to be disappointing. They can't build a whole season around Deb knowing flat out that he was the Bay Harbour Butcher...
I sense a great disappointment coming for a bunch of farkers...

Season 4 was easily the best of the series. I do think Doakes getting killed was a bit premature, but inevitable. biatching about the domestication seems to be missing the point.

My problem with the show's past 2 seasons is that it seemed like they really didn't know how to top Rita's death or even how to actually follow it up. The trailers for the upcoming season seem a lot more promising and feels like the show's back on track.

The actress who plays Deb is hot to me.
