This has the potential to be awesome, but it can easily fail.

I CANT SEE ANYTHING AT WORK. But this excites me. C&C is my favortie game of all time. Was always dissapointed they fell off. But EA will destroy a franchise when possible.

Red Alert 2 was probably the best strategy game I ever played. Not because it rewarded people for APM and early scouting but because they said, "what is awesome?" and then just did all of it.

I'm a huge fan of the original Generals. I've been waiting for this game since before they announced it. I am more than a little nervous that they're going to fark this up.

Just the opener there, with Hell March blaring and that cinematic... awesome.

It'd be more accurate to call it the BioWare label. It's the same studio that made the last C&C game with a new title slapped on it.

It's not like the people responsible for Mass Effect, Dragon Age, or SWTOR have anything to do with it.

That said, I hope Frostbite 2 ends up in Dragon Age 3, because their engine is horrible. But I don't expect it.

BioWare can't even make RPGs properly anymore. How on Earth could they possibly make a good C&C game especially when it's F2P?

C&C is my favorite game, but then it stopped working on my desktop. I'm using Vista. Any suggestions other than buying a laptop?

Free to play (pay to win, knowing EA) garbage on top if the fact that EA ran the series further into the ground. than one could think possible.

It'll be fun to go on and play once or twice when they eventually allow you to buy nukes off the bat.

at first that was my reaction. then i realized if its going to be MP only, i onl like playing MP RTS's with my friends these days anyway, and not with any sort of competition between us, so it wont really matter to us. this made me much happier with the whole concept

You are probably the only person on earth who has ever said that.

I tip my hat to you sir. You have far more patience and understanding than I ever will. May you be an inspiration to those around you.

I remember playing generals with my buddies and we had a 20 minute build up period, 4 on 4, before we let loose.

As soon as we all counted down the build up the game did this.
"Nuclear Launch Detected, Nuclear Launch Detected , Nuclear Launch Detected , Nuclear Launch Detected, Ion Cannon Fired, Scud Launch Detected Ect..."

We effectively reduced 20 minutes worth of harvesting and building up into tribal warfare in less than a minute.

Fun times.

Gamer... Fine I'll buy...

EA.. with tax...

Or upgrade to 7, it's a little better about automatically finding the right compatibility elements when you tell it to.

There's also the old "virtual machine running windows 95" trick.

Um, what makes you think that? C&C usually has some damned extensive campaign modes. If you go back to the Dune/Dune2k days (still the same game, just different story elements) the campaign cutscenes even had Patrick Stuart for no reason.

I will not play it. I have an aversion to games that pretend to be "Free" but require you to buy and spend "points" or "coins" in order to progress.

I wouldn't have a big problem with it if they were up front about it rather than claiming to be "free". I suspect that in the time it takes for me to get bored of a game I will spend less than the $60 or $70 it would cost to buy. But as a matter of principle, if they claim it is free, then it better be free.

F2P means a MMO with no buy-in cost and no monthly fees. Usually there's an optional subscription service for full content and X points per month, while the free version is severely limited but nominally allows you to achieve the same heights as a paying player, but requires much greater effort (enough so as to force you to buy something). It also means there is an associated cash shop, usually allowing random perks, sometimes allowing outright gear buying.

Guild wars 2 is not a f2p mmo because you have to buy the game, but it lacks monthly fees. WoW is not a f2p mmo because you have to pay monthly fees, even if the client and account are free.

I'm sorry that you're incapable of having a civil discussion. Those are examples of popular single player games in the last 5 years. Your assumptions regarding the context of my comment is what is flawed, or shall I say, "farktarded" as folks in these parts would say.

Do you not understand what 'Not exactly, considering the biggest game of the past 5 years was Single Player only.' means?

Because it doesn't mean 'list a ton of successful games.

It means...enlighten us all as to the game that has outsold and outproffitted WoW, and is single player, and no one else knows about.

CSB: Back when I worked at Star Trek the Experience in Las Vegas, I played the original C&C. During one of the cutscenes, I recognized the guy playing the reporter was one of the Starfleet actors on the ride.

Which... In a way, this story reminds me of that Weird Al song "Skipper Dan." To go from video game actor to theme park ride actor.

Anyway,
