In terms of net worth, yes: Link. His net worth was consistently amongst the lowest in Congress (in terms of just absence of investment activity...there've certainly been others carrying big negative net worth due to high-roller investments).

He's worth shockingly little money. His income for the last 35 years is just his Senate salary. And now since he's in the V.P. mansion, renting his (mortgaged) $100K house. And, like, pocket change worth of bank interest (savings bonds?).

I'm surprised there's no book royalties or anything in there whatsoever. He did run for Prez. in '08...usually a candidate will crank out a book or something. It's pretty much the easiest way for a politician with no major consulting or investing revenue to bump himself up a tax bracket. Almost all of Obama's net worth got built up within the last 6 years from book royalties.


From what I've read, Biden just doesn't really care about that stuff and would rather just keep his portfolio simple and no-maintenance rather than bother with the task-related drudgery of managing it or visiting with financial consultants.
