Boy, the GOP is really concerned this week. So deeply deeply concerned.

2012-08-16 01:05:25 PM
Yeah, good plan, GOP. Force Biden off the ticket, insert Hilary and throw away any shot at 2016.

Don't think I haven't noticed the amount of Anti-Joe threads today.

2012-08-16 01:11:43 PM
Woah!  So the President is meeting with the Vice President and Secretary of State on the same day??!?!?

Has this ever happened before?!?

I mean, I could understand this if this were an election year and there was some nasty shiat going down in other countries that we have relationships with.  But neither are true as far as I know.

2012-08-16 01:14:17 PM
Paul Ryan wants to screw Medicare for folks my age and OOGABOOGABOOGA Biden said some stupid shiat!

2012-08-16 01:18:54 PM
I sure hope not. That old fool is going to cost Obama a lot of votes.

2012-08-16 01:19:44 PM
The Paul Ryan honeymoon is over already?

I always it thought it would be a powerful combination, but Joe would have to get sick or retire because of his health or whatever. I'm not so sure how it would look to do it now. I mean Obama is already crushing with the women's vote.

2012-08-16 02:17:17 PM
I don't think the Obama campaign bases their strategy decisions on the latest pearl-clutching Republican faux outrage -du-jour.

Crazy, I know.

I think it's just now dawning on them who their candidates are.

You know guys, I'm really concerned about how Joe Biden will do in the debates against that dreamy Paul Ryan. From what I've heard, Biden really doesn't know a lot of details about things. Not like Paul Ryan he has a chart AND a graph!!11

no, they will just rewrite their memories.

Apparently, the WH just said Joe is on the ticket.

Another swing and a miss for the Weakly Standard

lol

Why would they remove Biden? He's awesome.

I can't wait to vote for him in 2016.

Y-you mean the Obama campaign bases their decisions on sound, logical, rational thinking and not the first thing that comes out their ass like the Romney campaign?

Now let's be fair. The Romney campaign does not limit itself to the first thing that comes out of their asses. Their policies are a running commentary on whatever is coming out of their asses at the given moment no matter how far into the poop they are.

So this schedule (which basically looks similar to the schedule for any other normal day) fuels "speculation" according to a link in TFA - but that link goes to another blog post on the same website, which basically says "Lawyers say Obama can drop Joe before September 6 if he really wants to"?

Joe Biden isn't even completely swole and ripped, what a nerd

2012-08-16 04:37:45 PM
So the republicans really fear Biden.

Understood. Noted.

2012-08-16 04:38:55 PM
Why would they get rid of Biden? He suffers from the occasional foot-in-mouth outburst, but they are usually not harmful. Listening to him talk,it's apparent that he's well spoken, intelligent, knowledgeable, and most of all sincere. That recent speech where he talked about the loss of his first wife and kids made anyone who listened to it misty.

I think this is just the Republicans trying to project the chaos and insanity from the Romney camp onto Obama's. Fortunately, they aren't idiots.

2012-08-16 04:39:15 PM
It's funny how the Republicans constantly make fun of Democrats as liberal-elite-educated-snobs but then can't stand it when Biden doesn't play that part.

This is truly one of the weirdest campaigns I've ever seen. Romney is running what is essentially the "I'm rubber, you're glue" campaign. Obama's team points out an issue with Romney; Romney's team counters by leveling the exact same accusation back at them. It's just so weird and makes no sense to me. There's not even a subtext. It's just reactionary.

"Obama's team is focusing on Paul Ryan? Well, we'll focus on Biden, that'll show 'em."

Yeah, great job guys. The GOP presidential nominee picks fights with the Senate Majority Leader and the Vice President, then complains to the press that the President is being mean to him. Maybe he thinks he can whine his way into the presidency, because I just don't get it.

2012-08-16 04:43:04 PM
Romney killed a woman and for an encore he's going to put some people back in chains. Why are we discussing something Joe Biden uttered? It's not like he killed somebody. Let's put things in perspective.

I listened to a Biden speech in it entirety a few weeks ago and was impressed. Yea, sure he said things that people on the right couldn't understand but that's bound to happen when you speak like an adult.

Have you seen that series of starcraft screenshots where the dude is trying to 6pool by building 6 spawning pools?

I think that's pretty much how Romney is approaching his campaign.

I remember Uncle Joe, he was the one afraid to cut the cake.

I like Biden. I think think he gets in trouble, mainly, for telling the truth. (And, yes, the in chains thing was a metaphor that does illustrate a real point about the way the Romney/Ryan plan could end up affecting the middle class and poor. But it is a metaphor, not a lie.) Biden isn't very diplomatic. I like that, too. I would be angry if he were taken off the ticket, but not enough to change my vote.

Lionel Mandrake: Apparently, the WH just said Joe is on the ticket.

They've been saying it for months; there is no intention of changing the ticket, and pulling an Eagleton would only serve to create an angle to question the President's "judgement", since most people really don't have strong opinions on Biden either way.

You know, I bet that some of these big time Republican backers are kicking themselves for funding Citizen's United. If they just had kept their powder dry instead of putting out an anti-Hillary "documentary" at the start of the primary season they'd have had a better chance of her being on the Democratic ticket dispite her low approval rating and the mountains of anti-Clinton evidence they had ready. Instead she's managed to have her image reformed by the Secretary of State gig (I don't know anyone who doesn't recognize her as a politician now; 4 years ago even I would have said she was a politician's wife who got to warm a Senate seat to prepare for a Presidency run) and they have to hope against hope that the President trips over his dick by dropping a mostly boring dude who's only notable issues are sometimes putting his foot in his mouth in exchange for a mountain of baggage the Clintons bring.

do they think that going up against hillary (especially with her resurgent popularity amongst young voters and women) is going to be better???

Exactly why he's a good VP candidate.  Hillary, regardles of how unfair, scares people because she's a strong woman.  She rubs people the wrong way.  (Again, I'm not saying that's fair... just true.)

Plus do the dems really want to bring back all the crap that went on during Bill's 2 runs?  All the supposedly shady deals, etc.

She's an excellent choice for Sec. of State.

I would rather face Hillary if someone were mad enough to take me as VP. Mmore predictable, less relatable, and if I did start to get my ass handed to me at least I could waggle my eyebrows and shout "CLLLLIIINNNTTOOOOOONN" in a spooky voice.

What Biden said wasn't racist.

It was, however, spinnable.

Well, considering that it is now 5:40 pm on the East Coast and we haven't heard shiat, I'd say that subby waited too long to pop this one on us. Obviously nothing's changed.
