30 to life? That seems a little steep. Maybe they should just have him talk to a priest and spend some time volunteering with the Boy Scouts.

Both times, I believe, he took him across state lines. So the kid was exposed to Wisconsin and the guys peener. That has to doubly scar a kid. Also, some immoral porpoises got involved. I'm guess PETA stepped in and demanded the hard sentence.

No big surprise. Experience is more valuable to employers then any law enforcement degree.

Pedos getting those jobs isn't ironic, it's strategic. Priests seek out jobs that will put 'lil boys in a trusting relationship with them. Mark Foley was on a committee for exploited kids...

Well, to be fair, there is no mention on if any of this happened since the first arrest, It could have happened before January.

And he's an ugly critter, too. Wonder how he got ANY little kid to get in a car with him, unless the poor little guy was literally dragged into the situation.

Uh, the state line is very close there ... He took the kid for a half hour ride on a road across an imaginary line.

That's a long sentence pending - I find it strange that it's a mandatory 30 year (to life) for crossing state lines to have sex with a minor, BUT sexual exploitation of a child is worth 15 to 30 years. Personally I believe the 2nd crime is worse than the first one, I mean, a minor is underage, which is bad, but sexual exploitation of said minor, which is worse, is worth less time just because of a line? Strange.

/Wife is currently visiting family just over the WI side of that line. Her father lived in WI and worked in IL for 30 years. He refused to live in IL, but worked within a few miles of this dudes home.

In the Diskworld novels, it's mentioned that Death has worked so much with humans that he couldn't help but start to like them. A similar sentiment is expressed by the writings of Orson Scott Card - if you truly know someone, you can't hate him.

Maybe this also applies to sex crime investigators?

The line you crossed was real, and the plants you brought were illegal.

Maybe he only got the job so he has an excuse to look at child porn.

Wow, that headline was like every single trite email forward I get from my mom. Minus the child buggery.
