This from the "99 Ways to Die" writer?

First your music went downhill. Then it was the born again thing and birtherism.

Usually getting off drugs is an improvement for a person, Dave.

I wish more ex-junkie rock stars were like Alice Cooper. To hear him tell it, he never technically stopped believing in God. He just started going to the bottle for help instead of church all those years he was a hopeless drunk. When he cleaned up, he started going to church again and used running and golf as his outlets for addiction recovery. He also didn't start lacing every album with references to religion. He knew on which side his bread was buttered, and that was in being the leathered-up, raspy-throated rock singer persona. Plus it's not like he ever stopped liking old monster movies and sci-fi, which is where he got a lot of his ideas in the first place.

Dave Mustaine, on the other hand, has always been a gigantic asshole. It's just that for a brief moment in the early 90s, he did some pro-Clinton coverage for MTV that made everyone think that maybe there was a brain underneath all that hair. Then he found God in the early 00's, and now he's another one of those ex-wastoids who found Jesus and reject everything about their old life without any kind of deep introspection. They go full retard the opposite direction, and their drug becomes this lifestyle of the born again recovering addict, and all the idiotic sh*t it brings.

I get that some people needed Jesus to help them finally get clean. That doesn't mean you now have a full pass to be a judgmental, cloying, self-absorbed asshole who never has to own up to the bad sh*t you did.

Derp cut with RW Jesus and then sprinkled with Alex Jonesean paranoia dust is a helluva drug.

Peppermint Rose: I at least noticed he was crazy left. He had a few good commentaries on the military industrial complex but they weren't groundbreaking insights he just said those observations in a clever way. I always wanted to pat him on the head and say "bless your heart" when he went into some of his "more creative" theories.

Technically speaking, Hangar's particular brand of crazy was Menza's, he wrote the lyrics (which I think was pointed out already, as well as with Foreclosure). "Architecture", "Symphony", "Ashes", "Holy Wars" (you know, the one where he changes the subject to comics halfway through, wasn't that a clear enough sign?), those (i think) are his and come to think of it (great, now I'm analyzing the lyrics of Dave farking Mustaine), they're not leftist as much as just nihilistic in general ("take a guy, give him power, he'll fark you over", "the greater the conqueror, the more death he'd have caused", etc). Heh, maybe he was a sikrit 'publikin all that time!

HeartBurnKid: Yeah, most of the "Satanism" in metal is, if it's not just outright Christian imagery (listen to Black Sabbath sometime; most of their songs sound like fire and brimstone sermons).

"After Forever". The giant crosses they all wore were also a bit of a giveaway.

Also; Alice Cooper's morality plays on stage (isn't he Dave's godfather?), Maiden, FARKING SLAYER (McBrain and Araya respectively; Catholics or something), so on, so forth. Oh, and with a heavy influence from Gothic lit which was Christian as all hell in itself.

...and most of that time, people were going around sharing stories they'd heard that each of these sacrifices goats onstage and they're all working to... iono, do something evil.

...and all that time, these deep lyrics were written by some guy who'd spent his entire life learning and practicing music and doing drugs. But mostly drugs. And little else. Maybe read a random book or two for an example of how you put words together in a sequence. Maybe.

Really, most of the time, it's best to just focus on the music. That's the real problem with Dave over the past few years, not the crap du-jour that he believes in and is totally pissed off about.

Mikey1969: Yet he had this to say about Romney:

"I've got to tell you, I was floored the other day to see that Mitt Romney's five boys have a $100 million trust fund. Where does a guy make that much money? So there's some questions there."

Wait till someone tells him about the 100 million dollar IRA as well.

Dave Mustaine..

..a dark, black past is his most valued possession.

I'm sure they already have, but he's written up to the "LameStream Media" influence. It's funny, these people don't deny the stories, they just kind of write it off as a LSM thing and file it under 'forget'... It's even more flabbergasting than when they outright deny facts. Now they just act like you didn't say anything at all.

The quiet war has begun with silent weapons
And the new slavery is to keep the people
Poor and stupid, "Novus Ordo Seclorum"

How can there be any logic in biological war?
We all know this is wrong, but the New World Order's
Beating down the door, oh something needs to be done

Funny how none of you complained when he was bad mouthing Bush.

He's just upset that he couldn't be President of the United States of America.

/as much as I disagree with his politics, at least Ted Nugent embodies the southern redneck lifestyle which always seemed kind of appealing to me
//not that that has anything to do with this, just felt like bringing it up

Yes because vague lyrics in a song directed at no one in particular are the same as a speech given to a live audience directly implicating the President of conspiracy and murder.

Here is a followup article, in which one of the victims of the shooting basically calls Dave an idot (hero tag?)

Maybe I'll submit it and try for my first green light. Is Drew still green lighting anything with Sideshow Bob in the headline?

Looks to me like that's about Saddam Hussein.

Easy mistake, you thinking it's Bush and all.

DERP! THEY WANNA TAKE MY GUNZ!

As evidenced by the absolutely NOTHING they have been doing in that regard.

This is not about Bush, it's about 'them' or 'the Illuminati' or 'The Bilderberg Group' or 'The Rothschild's' or any other conspiracy theory about some organization running the world behind a curtain.

oops I guess I just never paid much attention. I will freely admit to being musically retarded. After hearing Dave's comment that musicians who disliked digital disliked it because digital proved they couldn't really play I just kind of wrote off everything Dave says and figured all silliness coming out of that band was his. Also he's such an obvious jerk I figured the band was run as a dictatorship with him at the head. I'm a huge fan of everything between Killing is my Business and United Abominations, but Dave like many artistic types has always impressed me as being more than a little unstable. I'm sad about what I perceive as the negative impact his conversion has had on his music but can't say his current derpitude particularly surprises me. From what I know about him he's always been one of those people who latches on to an idea and then finds "evidence" to support that idea later and that type personality is prone to latching on to wildly different even contradictory ideas over the course of their life with no apparent recognition of the contradictions.

GibbyTheMole: And the scary thing is, these guys aren't even a little unique. Judging from the facebook posts I see and the wackadoodle e-mails I get, most people are this over-the-top crazy.

I don't get it. I mean, Dubya is the guy that was doing everything he could to start the apocalypse, and he's the guy directly responsible for spending in the trillions on the wars, and getting a few thousand people killed over WMDs that didn't exist... and people are foaming at the mouth over Obama and health care? Are people's memory really that short? Are they just retarded? Are they racist? All of the above?

I know someone who is convinced that Obama is the actual antichrist. He has said that if Obama serves another term, he will force everyone to have the mark of the beast and America will be a communist country like Nazi Germany. (nevermind that Nazis were fiercely opposed to communism.)

WTF is wrong with people?

Most people are stupid, and politics is a complex topic. I can barely remember what I had for breakfast this morning on top of all the shiat I have to do at work and chores at home. There's not a lot of room left for political discourse.

Modern politics have replaced religion in America, you have to battle for "your side".

How many supposed tea baggers and republicans who "fight for a christian america!" have gone to church outside of a wedding or a funeral? Or even have read the god damn bible? Not much at least if my family is any indication.

The flip side is how many liberals and democrats claim to care about the "poor" but wouldn't be caught dead in a trailer park or a bad neighborhood. Or claim to be "open minded" but recoil from republicans or any non-democratic idea?

It makes me sick and in fact I think both parties have been bought out buy rich interests who can afford lobbiests. America is screwed.

People suck

Yep. Right you are. It's all about whether your team wins rather than backing someone (or being someone) who's doing the right thing. Personally, I'd like to see a party-less system. It'll never happen, though. It's a sad indicator of the state of America, though.

Thankfully Megadeth hasn't been relevant in like, 20 years.

It's a principle I apply across the board - when i am hearing someone's voice because they are famous for something, I am not going to pay much attention when they start ranting about some unrelated matter.
No more, at any rate, than I would pay some guy posting here on Fark.
Saves me the trouble of making those petty, score-keeping evaluations.

I would love a partyless system, but in the short term I would like our laws changed to accommodate 3rd parties.

Being a 3rd party candidate means that your views DON'T get heard and you are not a part of the debate. It's also extremely hard to get on the ballot as well.

I'm so happy I moved to Canada, there's problems but god damn the politics are less of a circus and I can choose more than 2 major parties.

I usually protest vote for a 3rd party but this year I'm voting for Obama (ugh) because I want to snub republicans for attacking women with their anti-abortion BC stance. There's no other first world party that has these issues.
