I was never particularly a fan, but when I saw how much creativity and work he put into everything he
ever did, I gained a new appreciation for him as an artist (and I truly believe, now, that he is one of the

I have heard some "outtake" clips from the MDA telethon (they're not really outtakes because they actually aired) that show that he can be a complete asshole, and a homophobe at that.

He is an incredibly sweet old man and I highly doubt he has a homophobic bone in his body. If he is he is hiding it by surrounding himself with homosexuals.

Oh, I don't doubt he said it. But he is from a very different generation and not particularly PC. He is also a very old man and lacks the filters that more modern performers take for granted. But that's one of the things that makes him so awesome.
