jackiepaper: I refuse to believe this until there is solid prof that his hat size is larger, since we all know such evidence is iron clad.

Bonds didn't deny taking steroids. He denied knowing that he was taking steroids. If you want to believe that, go ahead, but there is no denying he was on PEDs.

bulldg4life: Nabb1: Anyway, I knew there was something not quite right about that fat tub of goo who barely bat well under his weight last year while waddling around the Braves outfield part time and dogging it on the base paths was suddenly a svelte MVP slugger this year.

The Braves announcers spent the recent series discussing his change in attitude. He seemed confrontational and arrogant.

Who knew it was roid rage.

Steroids don't cause rage like people think, basically if you were a douche before steroids you will just have more confidence to be a bigger douche.

I really hope this can be used as ammo against all the people who still use the excuse of "well roids dont help you X" arguements ive been seeing from various apologists, if it can transform a melky cabrera to ya know an all star player and mvp canidate it can do wonderful things for 'good' players.

kiwannabee: Giants outfielder busted for performance-enhancing substance abuse?

Ten years and 200 home runs too late, MLBtards.

/Selig has tainted the game forever

I love baseball but its been tainted for decades. We've had a team throw the Word Series, the league was segregated till 1947, the owners were in collusion against the players and in the 1970's players were using drugs to cheat - amphetamines.

The fact is baseball is as dirty now as its always been.

He's at 501 PA. You need 502 (unless the Giants only play 161 this year)...but you're allowed to add in as many 0fers as necessary to bring someone up to the correct amount.

So if no one who qualifies beats .346, Melky wins.

Thats the point all b*nds defenders ignore, he never denied he took them just that he never took anything knowing it was steroids, which is amazing because I read an article about his workouts and the dude kept track of every meal, vitamin, exercise, rep, workout time. So for him to come back and say he didnt know what was in those shots/cream is just bullshiat.

protectyourlimbs: Not laughing as hard as Ryan Braun is....

I still dont see how he got off, I have never heard of a herpe medication cause a positive test, I guess we will see if he was really on them if he starts to fade a bit because that was why he took them his body broke down by the end of the season and he wanted that edge.

The Phillies 2nd baseman replacement also did that this year.

Freddy Galvis didn't hurt his team at all as he was able to serve his suspension on the Disabled List.

Melky shoulda just stuck to doing bong hits with Lincecum.

I think you need plate appearances equal to games times 3.1

That puts you at 503? plate appearances.

He's got 459 at-bats and 36 walks. If he's been hit by enough pitches...

ElwoodCuse: He's still going to win the batting title unless McCutchen goes off

McCutchen's currently batting .359, 13 points higher than Cabrera, and has hit pretty consistently all season (though he must've tailed off over the past week or two, because I recall he was hitting closer to .370 a couple of weeks ago). Even if Melky has enough PAs to qualify for the title, McCutchen is still in the driver's seat here.

bulldg4life: WTF Indeed: You wonder if the Yankees knew something.

He's been a slightly overweight lazy outfielder that was marginal for the past 5 seasons for 3 different teams.

He loses a bunch of weight and starts performing at an all-star level due to "working harder and eating better".

Did the Royals, Braves, and Yankees all know something or has he been a lazy overweight slob that took the easy way out this year?

You do know that steroids aren't some magic elixer that just makes you automatically a better athlete, right? People use steroids to recover from work outs faster (which allows better gains in athleticism), which is why they are so popular amongst athletes.

So the fact he took steroids (or testosterone) and improved basically means he worked his tail off.

machoprogrammer: So the fact he took steroids (or testosterone) and improved basically means he worked his tail off.

Actually, this might be the answer to the "why?".
Sometime last year, he probably DID want to turn things around and improve (or in this case, actually adopt) his work ethic, but realized he's starting to get on in his career, and teams may be less and less willing to take a chance on him as the years went by. thus, he probably felt pressure to speed things up a bit.

McCutchen was POTM for July. This month he'shiatting .265, he's got to turn that around.

Also MLB has no power to void his stats. His punishment is 50 games off with no pay, that's it.
