And let's not forget, he's aiding terrorists by killing people like Osama Bin Laden and Muammar Qaddafi

"Speaker Gingrich," said Romney, "is not revealing himself to be the kind of person I think he would want to be seen in this race for president, because fundamentally, we look for qualities in a president, but we don't look for whining and excuses."

RminusQ: I can't believe the nerve of Obama/Biden. Is there no low they won't stoop to? Last election, they accused McCain of being an old slowpoke or Palin of building a bridge to nowhere, but now that they're in office, they're terrible at everything. They're worse than Donald Rumsfeld. Rummy knew you have to go to war with the army you have, not the one you wish you had. Now, they're back in campaign mode, trying to gin up support among his fans, a bigger cult of personality than Mao ever had. But even liberals know in their heart of hearts that the debt is so big you have to stop kicking the can. A sta rt is the sensible reform of Medicare advocated by Ryan, who they're making out to be a giant asshole. Well I call bullshiat. No matter how much they attack, Democrats are losing states in spades. Romney is making them fight for every electoral vote, from the 55 in California to the 1 in Omaha, and they're within spitting distance. For all Americans, whether they're in the crib, aged like a fine wine, or 21 and just out of college, Mitt Romney is the right choice for President.

WombatControl: It's funny to see the groupthink in action. Of course Mitt Romney is the embodiment of all that is evil and will surely lose the election by at least 10 billion percent, as the entire European Union merges with the US just to vote against him. And let's all talk about how evil and heartless and cruel he is a million times over so that we can continue to reinforce our preconceived worldview!

Get over it. Romney has his issues, to be sure, but all the stupid little Fark Liberal™ groupthink bullshiat isn't going to change the facts. The economy is stuck, people are hurting, and all Obama can do is make snide attacks against Romney while passing the buck on his own record. Instead of talking about fixing Medicare (which, by the way, Medicare Part A is already going insolvent as it's spending more than it's taking in), Obama wants to scare people. Instead of tackling the debt, Obama is promising more spending. Instead of talking about building jobs, Obama is biatching that Mitt Romney won't release his tax records, dental exams, and the results of his last prostate screening.

Grow the fark up.

You can keep up the circlejerk as much as you want. Keep pretending like Obama is the brilliant political genius and Mitt Romney is an idiot. It won't make it true, and the more you burrow into a world of self-indulgent fantasy the more fun it's going to be when reality comes calling.

You had your opportunity to show the world how great left-wing policies would be. You got your Keynesian stimulus and your nationalized health care. And then you lost when the American people rejected them. And now your hero is going to lose too.

I'd say that would wake you up to reality, but I've been around long enough to know that liberals are liberals because they refuse to acknowledge reality.

Because, despite a round of fire spitty foot dragging these past few years, tjw long term trend of Congress is towards rubber-stampery and to cede more power to the executive. Most liberals thawing about the imperial presidency last time around tis merry-go-round were just out to sling shiat at bush but they were also right.

I can't believe I'm about to do this, but here goes...

Hey, you stupid brainless fuhk...did you NOT see any of the numerous appearances the HEAD OF S&P made on the teevee machine in the days following the downgrade, where he very clearly stated that the reasons for the downgrade were..

*Not enough spending cuts, EVEN AFTER OBAMA put four trillion worth of them on the table and the Republicants said "No".

*Brinksmanship on the part of Congress and the lack of confidence in the present US political system to deal with present and future economic issues due to the Republicants continued hissy fit over the fact that they LOST in 2008.

*The fact that there were Teabaggers sitting in Congress who were more than ready to allow the US to default on it's debts in the name of sticking to their economically illiterate agenda.

Did ya miss all that, cupcake? You must have, because I don't think it was on Fox.

Things have been getting progressively better under Obama. Republicans have admitted as much, they just don't think it's fast enough. So what do they want to do? The exact opposite of what is working in hopes that it will work better, using a trickle-down policy that has proven to be complete BS over the last 30 years. Everything you've just said is complete crap and there is no evidence whatsoever that anything Romney wants to do has any chance of working at all. I will never understand why Republicans seem to think that the cure to everything is to go back to the same policies that caused the problem in the first place.

2012-08-15 05:58:22 PM
Remember when Obama took office and immediately Republicans were threatening liberals with "second amendment solutions" and "watering the tree of liberty?" When even something as harmless as the president telling kids to work hard in school would cause Fox to ask for two weeks, "Why is Obama so much like Hitler?"

It's really funny to see these guys whine about divisiveness.

"Now, we've got to reform welfare in this county. Would you believe it if I told you some people in Massachusettes are able to use food-stamps to buy whoopie-pies at farmers' markets? My father had a word for that. Disgraceful."

*soaks in more applause*....

You know, I keep seeing accusations that these guys are paid shills, but I'm not buying it. There are most certainly a lot of people who really do think like that, especially in the South, but everywhere else too. Don't we all have that one friend, the dittohead who regards Rush as a good and honorable man? You know, nice guy but pretty stupid and extremely gullible? I know I do. In person he isn't so angry and confrontational, but put him in an environment where he's anonymous and he doesn't actually know the people he's communicating with and I'm guessing he would sound almost exactly like Envirodude. Fark is fairly liberal, so they are definitely in the minority, but there's no reason why there wouldn't be any. They aren't paid shills, they're just idiots.

THE WHITE HOUSE DOES NOT APPROPRIATE FOR FARK SAKE. CONGRESS DOES. And, the current huge deficits are more attributable to a loss of tax revenue from the economic downturn than to any spending that was done. The only thing that Obama can be accountable for is the stimulus package which was a necessary step to avoid a depression.

And when does Romney start running on his record? He won't provide details on any of his plans but just asks us to trust him. Why would anyone trust Mitt?

The stimulus package was from Bush's TARP.

That's funny... My wife got laid off at the beginning of the recession, a little thing that happened when a man named George W Bush was president. My company probably laid off about 20% of the workforce, and for those that were left, they made us either take a 5% pay cut or max out at 32 hour weeks with no O.T. We also lost matching fund contributions on the IRA, and lost pay raises and bonuses.

Fast forward to mid-2012. My wife found a new job, has already received a promotion, and multiple raises. My company has filled all but about 10% of the original positions(The rest were redundant positions), we have acquired 2 new companies, expanded our market share, added about 5x as many new jobs as we didn't fill, we have gotten our pay back, raises back, full hours back and developed new product for our existing market. They also normalized PTO, which meant bringing our Salt Lake office in line with what people got at our Chicago office. I went from 2 weeks' PTO to 4 weeks' worth this spring.

All that's left is bonuses and matching retirement contribution.

But hey, yeah, there are millions in the street begging for jobs. I mean it's so bad that I can't drive to work without running over at least 17 people a day.
