First, with all due respect to "Phillyburbs.com", Charleroi PA isn't "Pennsyltucky". Although, I suppose such a mistake is bound to happen in wherever the hell Burlington County is.

Second, it was funny to hear "that bud smelled so good" from the straight laced local news caster.

Sounds reasonable.

From what I hear, the police has the best stuff.

Is that not a good reason?

My mouth waters like mad when I smell/smoke certain strains of weed. I feel like I've been conditioned somehow.

You mean I could have submitted this, done no work at all on a headline and gotten it greened? Damn, My wife forwarded it an hour and a half ago, I could have beat subby to the punch.

I smoked some last summer just because it smelled good. Yeah, I'm not a good potsmoker. Don't know how people do it all the time but good for them.

The people of the state of Pennsylvania are what's being represented in the criminal action for which this marijuana is being held as evidence. They, through their representatives the police, are in lawful possession of the evidence. Mr. Go Getter has unlawfully deprived them of said item in contravention of the law of the state.

ok. They are also the ones suffering the abuses of the drug war. Still doesn't answer the question of why 'the people' are the victims of this guy jacking the cop's stash.

Who in the hell steals from the police and hangs around ?

You got the bag, you are outside, get the hell out of there. Once gone he would have been in the clear.

They might be able to accuse him of doing it but proving it would have been a hell of a lot harder unless they had video

Plus he really should have just taken a taste, they probably never would have know especially if it hadn't been weighed yet.

WHAT??? Since when does government "fund" anything? You and I fund it, like it or not.

Now, getting back to the subject at hand.

One cannot steal stolen property. It is merely being repossessed.

There was a higher level cop who got transfered around late 2011 to Merritt, British Columbia. He needed a fix, so he helped himself to the 'display cocaine'(for educational events). Good times not had by all.

pot smokers are retarded people cause since my job might require a random drug check. all drugs therefore should only be in the hands of stupid people, willing to go to lose a career for. when they could have been learning more shiat to get up into the 100k range like where Mitt Romney wants us

According to the letter of the law, you're right. But as a matter of practical reality, the evidence had no tangible value to the people or to the state since the law also requires that it be destroyed. Taking that into consideration, no one was ultimately deprived of anything. It's like stealing someone's garbage.

I love it when 70 grand a year police get their random drug checks. NOT!

Hey mannn, like When we took the marijuana stuff to the incinerator(or field), we kinda got trapped downwind and ya know like we have to ahhh wait 35 days to take the ummmm random drug test. So like call us back then and we can ahhh get this thing down then.

The value it has to the people of the state is that it renders the law enforceable. That is a pretty significant value. Besides the theft charge, he could be charged with obstruction of justice.

I wish for everyone to live in a free society like me. I can walk into any of the 500 dispensaries here and wiff huge jars full of the most beautiful buds you have ever seen. The first time you do it is incredibly overwhelming. I hold out hope that one day you can all experience such joy. Of course it will require you to get off your ass and vote but it is a small price to pay.

Let's take a poll of and see how many people would feel at all victimized by the prospect of not being able to spend the tax dollars to prosecute someone for possession of a minuscule amount of marijuana. The only ones who have an interest in enforcing the law is the state, not the people, and most people agree that the state's agenda is less than noble when it comes to prosecuting people for personal drug use. Just because the state claims to represent the people doesn't necessarily make it so.

I smell a tangent.

Regardless, there are still lots of people who think marijuana should be illegal (I am not one), but it doesn't really matter here. Regardless of what the evidence was, or what crime it was being used to in the prosecution of, what he did was criminal, and the crime is not victimless.
