Its just the house. You would have thought they would have learned their lesson about corruption from the scandals years ago. But apparently, the men and women there put on stupid glasses and consider themselves exempt from their own rules (especially the ones that apply to the rest of us peons in the common areas).

If I'm reading this right, the "someday, somehow, somewhere" started when Issa issued a new subpoena specifically targeting those records.

I need to run for congress. No term limits, I live in Texas, so all I need to do is say I'm Republican and once elected, just half ass a job, let the straight party voters vote me in each time I'm up for re-election and make sure that everything I vote for in the end protects my ass while I'm in congress and after wards.

If you had (or could raise) enough money to buy your way up the party ladder to get on the ticket, you probably wouldn't be posting on FARK.

WASHINGTON (AP) - A Democratic committee chairman overrode his own subpoena three years ago in an investigation of former subprime mortgage lender Countrywide Financial Corp. to exclude records showing that he, other House members and congressional aides got VIP discounted loans from the company, documents show.

The procedure to keep the names secret was devised by Rep. Edolphus Towns, D-N.Y. In 2003, the 15-term congressman had two loans processed by Countrywide's VIP section, which was established to give discounts to favored borrowers.

You know what I hate most about this guy? It's not that he's been a politician for 30 years even though I believe in term limits. It's not that he abused his power to hide his tracks. It's not even that he abused his power to gain financial benefits. No, what I hate about this dickhead is he made me like and agree with something Darrell Issa did.

Fark you, Edolphus.

I work at a University which as we all know, are really just a conspiracy of liberals to indoctrinate the youth, so you're probably right. Originally I thought it was the specific situation of Darrell Issa who his past actions have made me believe he's just a dick. But now you have enlightened me to realize I have been assimilated to believe anything different than what my liberal masters have taught me must be pure evil.

Please help me, how do I escape my liberal indoctrination prison? I know, I'll transfer.

This is why socialism can't work as intended: Greed.

Members of Congress get favorable mortgage rates and lie about it. Members of Congress make it legal for themselves to engage in insider trading. The US is run by a criminal cabal, and the more power it gets, and the more government spending, the worse it gets.

Single Payer healthcare would guarantee every family member of a Congressperson, from spouse to 4th cousin, would linejump for treatment, just as friends and family of Chicago cops never have to sweat a parking ticket.

There used to be a notion of "clean government", made manifest by a few political leaders like Walter Mondale. Now it's everyone for themself. The USA is dead and will never come back.

Socialism versus capitalism has nothing to do with how corrupt your politicians are. Public apathy and ignorance is the problem. Politicians won't stop being corrupt until the job of Politician is considered a truly honourable vocation again. Call out and punish the corrupt politicians but praise and be grateful for the honest ones dedicating their career to public service. They are out there.

Man, you are being particularly derpy today.

Romney's tax plan give huge ADDITIONAL breaks to the very people who need it the least. Obama wants to let the bush tax cuts expire on the highest earners. With these painfully obvious facts in mind, the problem people have with Romney is not his success or his money, it is the fact that Romney is the super-rich candidate that is proposing huge tax breaks for himself. That is the point. One that has been made over and over and over again day after day after day and you and the other shiat-for-brains' in here keep going with the 'obama attacking success' or 'libs hate romney for his money' or any other derivative of the same thing. You're so tiresome.

theknuckler_33: Romney's tax plan give huge ADDITIONAL breaks to the very people who need it the least.

Lies. Rich people don't make money as "income" because you pay more taxes on it. They incorporate and make the money as "capital gains." Therefore bush tax cuts have FARK ALL to do with rich people's riches and everything to do with whether your lawyer pays more taxes than you.

Now I'm generally in favor of taxing lawyers, because most of them are assholes. What I'm not in favor of is taxing my boss's boss (who is still not the CEO much less the owner). See if he doesn't have to give that money to the man he can give it to me. Or make his Porsche payments. That's between me and him. Fark Barack Obama

wtf are you talking about ?

under capitalism, which is based on greed, profits and losses accrue to the investors. the US does not run this way.

under socialism or communism, the system breaks down once leaders of the proletariat revolution stop being revolutionary and start being ordinary humans, who are driven by greed. fidel castro has a fortune of half a billion. the head of the seiu is a multi-millionaire.

under the US crony-capitalism:

- politicians get special favors from mortgage companies, free tickets to sporting events, etc.
- politicians grant themselves special privileges, using public money.
- banks buy politicians, so that politicians will transfer the bank's losses to the national debt
- unions buy politicians, leading to some meter maids in California making $90,000 a year
- government more and more resembles the Mafia

the whole thing is going under. we're already in a depression.
